Do you ever feel that you’re not living your best life right now?

Be it that work has taken over or anything that you feel you need to change to help you find the “little wins” to make you feel it’s all worth it again

It has happened rarely in my life. Even in the proper shit times I’ve just lived. I like to live every single day. But now I’ve found amazing happiness for myself and then met an amazing partner. Smiles attract smiles I guess ♥️

Yeah it's been a hectic period since pandemic, which held up important stuff so now trying my best to catch up so, one day I'll be my normal self and enjoying life as I were like it was

I feel that I could do a lot more with my life, but at present it isn't really possible for me to do so. So I'll sit back for a while longer until it is. 😊

I'm starting to think that there is something intrinsically wrong with

Something has changed in me

Nothing and no one pleases me any more

Am I happy? It's 50/50 most days

Could I be happier? Yes

Will I ever be truly happy? I'm beginning to doubt it

Long/medium term, covid was the most profitable thing that ever happened to me. I went from working in London to working from home, at the same rates. Not just the finance though, it just gave me so much more time to do things.

Short term, I injured my shoulder 3 weeks ago falling off my bike, I'm training for Barcelona ironman in October, so it put a bit of a hold in that. Should be back to full training this weekend though, so in good.

Not a dig at you, OP, but I hate the phrase living your best life. It suggests that anyone not constantly doing stuff all the time is ‘not living their best life’. There are many things I could do, and do enjoy doing, but I’m not a motivated person when I’m on my own.

Would I rather be doing those things with someone? Absolutely. But I can’t find someone just now. So, I’m taking a break and will try again in the autumn/winter. Until that time I won’t be living my best life but I hate being made to feel like I should.

Again, not a dig at you. Or any posters here. Just raging against the machine!! 😆

Had a crap 6 years and trapped by loans, preventing holidays and good celebrations. All I felt was I wasn't doing enough.

Decided to focus on the little wins. Made the medium wins bigger (as they had been harder to achieve) and like others on here, focused on things that make me happy.

Feel a ton better and getting more wins altogether. Chin up and don't be so harsh on yourselves.

Totally accept not a dig at me

This is nothing about not being with someone. Far from it

It’s more about balance being out of line

My forties have been a challenge to say the least. But like above I am a firm believer that I am exactly where I need to be right now. Life may not be perfect but there’s something good in every day.

I’ve felt this all week long! Had some seriously dark thoughts midweek, but I’ve come to the weekend and I see clearer skies! I think it’s a mind/situation thing

I was diagnosed with throat cancer about 18 months ago and through surgery, chemo and radiotherapy felt a bit down.

Although you always tend to come through cancer treatment a bit damaged I feel great to be alive, cancer free, back at work and loving life to the full.

You just have to battle through and mix with positive people.

Getting back into work has been great as after a bit, the sympathy dries up and you are treated just like a normal person which is wonderful.

It’s normal if it’s temporary, life should sometimes be a struggle it’s how you grow, even if you can’t se it now.

I think it was Steve jobs who said he looked in the mirror every morning and said if this was his last day would he still go and do what he’s about to do. And if if the answer was no for too many days in a row then he changed.

Surely the ONLy life you have is the moment you are living right now.

If you spend time pining over the past or starting into the future you miss the NOW ..... this is why people feel they are not living because they won't let themselves..... they pine or plan ... instead of living.

Dalai Lama xiv There are only two days in the year that nothing can be done. One is called Yesterday and the other is called Tomorrow. Today is the right day to Love, Believe, Do and mostly Live.”

I do not think meaningful rewarding lives are crafted by refusing to plan the future or reflect on the past.

Unlike Buddhist monks, for most of us life is about much more than going out each day asking strangers to give us a bowl of food to eat

What does your best life look like op?

I was motivated to reflect on this when a friend of our daughters asked her how we were and she replied "living their best retired life". I realised that to her that's what our life looked like. She wasn't wrong with but it's easy to lose sight of it.

"Do you ever feel that you’re not living your best life right now?

"

Of course.

.

But then I realise that whilst my life could be better in so many other ways, it could a heck of a lot worse in so many others.

.

And whilst I don't believe in reincarnation in a spiritual sense, I do believe in one from a scientific and atomic sense.

.

My atoms and molecules were here at the beginning of time, and they are going to separate and rearrange elsewhere at some point. I'm shedding some now whilst living, typing in to this keyboard.

Some are flying off to the air. Starting new journey. Some will take on a new arrangement of their own. Some have been in others, and others are yet to be. I've lived a million and one times, and died the same amount already.

.

I like this current "arrangement". It's not perfect, and it's flawed and broken, and doesn't do everything I would like it to do.

.

But it is me.

And I am content with me.

.

And like a parent might have a certain "parental pride" in their offspring, I view my atoms in the same way.

.

Some are going to go on to do amazing things. (Some terrible I expect as well). But I cherish those parts of me that will go on to live in another shape or form and experience perhaps the things I cannot in this form. I am happy for their future, as I believe their future happiness will be mine by virtue. Even if I not cognisant of that. Because you can be happy about things you don't even know about.

.

I have not been at the "red wine" or the strange mushrooms.
