"If you make a birthday cake for someone, what type would it be and why?"

I promise this isn't a copout answer, but it would entirely depend on who I was making the cake for, because that would define what types of cake they do and don't like.

I made a 6-layer rainbow cake for a Bake-Off competition where I used to work. Was a bit of a faff, but well worth the effort.

I made for the very first time a Victoria sponge cake

In fact two - the first one is in the front lawn as a stepping stone

Oddly the history of the Victoria sponge was down to the invention of self raising flour !!! No cream , has to be raspberry filling and granulated sugar dusting

Oh Mrs Beeton published the recipe for the first time in her first book !

Anyone asleep yet ? 😇😬💤

Carrot, maybe lemon drizzle. As a keen cyclist I'm often faced with coffee and cake at a cafe, but to be honest, nearly all cake looks better than it tastes. On the plate it's great, but sadly disappointing when you eat it

Some years back I was visiting a client site for work having lunch with a colleague, talking about the usual nonsense, I bought a portion of cheesecake for dessert, just ordinary looking cheesecake and bit into it.

In mid Sentence I let out an mmmmmmmmmmmm!

Wow, it looked ordinary but was the best damn cheesecake I'd ever tasted.

Sometimes things look good and are disappointing to taste, sometimes just sometimes an ordinary looking bit of food just blows your mind.
