Chunky usually means chunky.

Doubt there are many who'd describe chunky as petite. Except on here perhaps where it could also be curvy, fabulous and so on.

Some women are tall. Some are short. The same size dress, a size 12 for example, can be made in a long fitting so that it sits in the right places on a tall lady, or in different proportions for a shorter lady.

The shorter fitting is labelled “petite”. This may be the source of some confusion, as people may think that petite means small build, and don’t understand the concept of a size 20 petite fitting.

Used in other ways, it could describe build … saying that a lady had a petite frame, for example.

But on its own, it refers to height.
