How’s yours?

Do you look back and think ‘god I wish I had that body back’ or are you the type that is ‘I’m where I’m at because of x, y or z’ and have positivity no matter ?

If people don't like you for what you are, they can do one

I've always been fat. I've had a belly apron at the bottom since I had my son (I was 16) and my boobs sagged after that (as well as other bits of me). I've never been especially happy with my body. I mainly like my face. I don't think I'm especially pretty but my eyes are decent and I have good skin. I'm not hugely keen on how I look but also am not particularly bothered about other people's opinions on it. If people like it, great. If they don't, tough.

Somewhere

I've been at odds with this since the beginning of Covid.

I was bullied in school for being painfully skinny and I hated it. I countered this by taking up bodybuilding and gained nearly 60kg of bodyweight from just over 60kg upto 120kg. I found a happy place with my body for about 20 years floating between 110-120kg depending on if I was competing in strongman, powerlifting etc.

Covid happened and I injured myself pretty badly, still not fully recovered and my motivation to maintain that size evaporated as well as my ability to train to the level required. I've made many attempts at starting again but it's just not there physically or mentally.

I'm now around 90-95kg depending and feel very small, don't like it. I have good and bad days.

I'd like to come to terms with it and accept it but memories of being bullied just won't fuck off.

I don't like my body. Guys prefer shorter petite women, with boobs. I reckon every guy I've ever spoken to likes me "despite" my height, or can overlook it for me or some other shite that is meant as a compliment.

I am at an age now not bothered . Cannot really do anything about my body.

I was at school ‘ the seven stone weakling’. In secondary school yes played sports and was in rugby team. But was the smallest and lightest. Never really put weight on . Now 5’ 10’ and weigh around 66kg. I can eat , drink what I want with no weight gain.

I have always wanted since secondary school to have a better body mass .

So yes took a lot of years to realise just had to live with my body and accept that could not change .

Overlook? I love the words you use.

There’s always a stand out reasons why I like someone, and it can be a the most simplistic thing that makes them unlike everyone else.

It’s not that we overlook something about them, it’s the fact that because we fancy them now, we don’t need to ignore or brush away a certain preference we might visually like looking at ‘women in general’, it’s now evident that we fancy EVERYTHING about her. She is sexy. 1 certain preferences alone will never make someone sexy.

Why is height such an issue or something that even needs ‘overlooking’

As a whole men prefer petite women. It's just a fact of life.

Not always the case I prefer a woman to be around my height or taller, if you've gpt a good personality why would it even matter

Like the lady who mentions guys who message her "despite" her height, I get a few messages along the lines of "I don't usually like fat girls but there's something about you that turns me on". I'm also as tall as she is and get messages from guys saying it's a shame I'm so tall. Double whammy, fat and tall. It doesn't help the body confidence on here when someone points those things out but is willing to throw a fuck your way "despite" them.

My body confidence is very except in one area. When i am up the hills walking naked in the cold (down to minus 7c) everything shrinks. When I bump into a textile, I sometimes feel like saying "honest, it's not usually this small, it's the cold".

Honestly it makes me sad seeing how so many people suffer from weak mental self image etc ... when I came out and transition to my parents my dad said to me , kiddo you are going to need to immovable as life is going to be and get very hard for you going forward if you dont nip it in the bud . be a bright star was his advice for me .. so. I took that onboard and its never faltered .

some say I am arrogant / narcissist (A word randomly thrown around these years it seems ) as my mind is too small for doubt

So yes pep talk yourself up and believe in yourself .. your uniqueness is what makes you yourself .

My self confidence tends to be good… as I give all I can … so I believe if I give it my all then I’m good…. I think the only reason I set up the thread is because I saw an old photo of myself yesterday and my body was at its peak… and as shallow as it sounds I for a minute wanted it back haha …. Hopefully some of the comments will give those less confident a boost …. And it’s also allowed me to steal your quotes haha

I do zilch to improve my body, so I try to do zilch moaning about it. I mainly frustrate myself knowing that my current fitness level is shit and that the health implications of obesity going forwards aren't going to be great.

I learned years ago that the confidence I exude is almost equivalent to having the 'perfect body' though, so that works for me

Getting much better. We've lost over 7st between us recently and we are both much more confident. Still a way to go, but we aren't seeking "good bodies" as such, just a healthier lifestyle and the broad positivity we think that will bring.

I don't love my body, but I am more confident now than I have ever been in my whole entire life. I don't think I've ever loved my body, so I never really want past versions of me back. Yes, I would change so much about my body if I could. But I'm very honest about the 'imperfections' and I'm also very accepting of how my body looks these days.

My body confidence is less than it used to be. Due to lockdown and back problems a lot of the weight I'd lost when I joined here has gone back on, but I don't hate my body shape the way I used to when I was at my biggest.

What I hate now really is not being as mobile as I used to be and being on daily medication, I'm concerned that not many people want to meet someone with mobility issues or who can't do many different positions so I'd seem rather boring

I've got to the point in my life where I refuse to beat myself up for who I'm not. I'm nearly 50, I'm fat and I'm wobbly. However, I do what I can to polish the turd, I have manicures, pedicures, Botox, fillers, I have a year round tan, I moisturise, get my hair done and do whatever makes me feel good. I'm a goddess to some, and ogre to others. I concentrate on those who appreciate me and my efforts and ignore those who don't. I don't struggle to get attention or appreciation on here and instead of disbelieving the compliments I receive like I used to, I politely accept them and thank people for them and add them to my positivity box. I get my fair share of negative comments and abuse about the way I look from anonymous keyboard warriors, but those people don't matter. Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter. For those who are struggling with body confidence, remember there are people on here who think you are perfect just the way you are, and would give their right arm to be in your presence just once. Anyone who doesn't feel that way about you is irrelevant. Love yourself the way you are because there are plenty of people out there that are loving you the way you are without you even knowing it. Fuck, I know this sounds so patronising but it took me a long time to accept who and what I am, and now that I do, the confidence in myself shines through even in my photos, when I go places I walk in owning my presence. It does make a difference. You can't please everyone, or be everyone's cup of tea but damn, to some people you are kryptonite.

i am more than my body - i have a brain that also needs feeding. By body wobbles and bits stick out, my child belly will never be the same as pre child. It is what it is and I'm content with it. I dont wear a lot of make up, never have, I stay true to myself. I do want to get a bit fitter, I struggled with a torn ACL and MCL in my knee for a year, so have taken up pole dancing - at least i can hang onto the pole.

If you like me you like all of me - if you dont - you don't. Don't judge me on my body alone.

Yea - we would all love to keep this mindset and be back in our 20 yr old body - I had so little confidence in myself then.
