Argh...

So was bringing a family member's car back from Italy when it spectacularly broken down just before the French boarder at Mont Blanc.

Luckily made it into a SOS stop and a roving patrol was just a few mins behind me.

Oil pump had broken so rapidly overheated and engine is absolutely wrecked so it can only be scrapped (just paid for new tyres on it).

€350 fee just to be towed 15 mins off the motorway and be told its a totalt write off so more money out on taxi to a hotel for the night.

No public transport back to Milan where family is until Monday morning, a cousin might be able to come pick me up tomorrow.

Just needed to vent and feel a bit sorry for myself but also grateful that didn't end up in an accident due to the breakdown, that it didn't happen in the MB tunnel itself or in France where I'd be really screwed.

Will have to scrap it here then do the paperwork with DVLA when I get back.

Manchester(ish).

That's a pretty spectacular day OP. Am glad you're okay, if a bit worse off financially.

Was feeling so Savvy as I was bringing back about 4 1.5l bottles of high quality olive oil which paid less than €10 compared to the £17+ for equivalent back home lol.

If only the hot receptionist would come knocking at my door this day might a salvageable

Unlike my family I have very little Italian but my French is rusty but actually passable so in a bar I'd have more luck going out but the wider implications are worse lol
