"Just did mine yesterday, last year was £400 quoted £766, compared the market, changed providers and I'm paying £400. I've no idea why these companies think they can nearly double your price and expect to keep you as a customer. Another thing that makes me question what they are playing at is over the last 4-5 years I've just switched every year between Aviva and AXA and my premium has hardly changed but every year a renewal quote is massive ![]() Who did you go to, to get it to £400 again?

"I'm just curious because mine has there asking twice as much this year even tho my circumstances hasn't changed." Mine has not really changed for my car or motorcycle. No accidents or claims for the past 48 years

"My renewal was £830. Last year it was £390. I shopped around and got better cover for £370. Apart from a couple of windscreen claims, I've never had to claim on my insurance in 43 years." Very similar story but doing mine tommorow. Fingers crossed

"It was in the news yesterday I think. How they calculated it is actually quite bad. So if you live in an area that is more ethically diverse your car insurance will be higher than an area with less. Worst part is that it has nothing to do with crime rates etc" It’s always been like that. I worked in car insurance almost 40 years ago and anyone living in an inner city area paid much more than someone living in the suburbs, even then.

"Last year £400. Quoted £980 this year. Changed provider and got insurance for £620. Never use go skippy. They are con merchants. I got charged £50 admin fee everytime I made a change. " Always check the terms and conditions for admin fees etc. Some insurers are like Ryanair for admin charges, I personally avoid them!

"Think it was £350 last year but it went up nearly£200 I drive a car that’s an old banger over 20yrs old every year it’s costing nearly as much as the car is worth to insure I’ve not claimed in over 25yrs apparently I’m an higher risk because I drive a low value vehicle, I feel I’m subsidising others when I renew my insurance " Have you thought about dropping to Third Party Fire and Theft cover or even Third Party Only? If the Comprehensive premium is more than the car is worth then it’s not worth paying the extra ££’s.

I actually checked and it didn’t make a lot of difference, couple of years ago I was offered a job that involved delivering food, so enquirered about changing my insurance term to suit and to my surprise the quote was actually cheaper, also changed my car couple years ago old one was 1.9 non turbo diesel the replacement was 2.0 Litre hdi turbo so quite a difference in performance both cars looked exactly the same only visible difference was the 1.9 had a sun roof, both same age the 2.0hdi was cheaper to insure tho, motor insurance is just a massive con
