Hi! I'm abit of a horror film enthusiast and looking to find others who are too.

Whats your favourite horror film?

Do you have any recommendations?

Whats the worst horror film you have ever seen and why?

Any less well-known horror your mad about and wish more people had seen?

I'm a huge horror film fan, and movie collector. Depending on what genres you like within Horror I could give you a dozen suggestions at least.

My favourite Horror is anything from John Carpenter, more ambient horror than shock horror, or blood horror.

What sub genres interest you?

I tend to like black and white horror films that focus more on atmosphere than jump scares or gore - Frankenstein, Island Of Lost Souls, Night Of The Demon.

In the colour era, films by John Carpenter (The Thing, Christine) and David Cronenberg (Shivers, Rabid, Videodrome).

Antichrist is a top shelf banger!

It's a bit psychological, and you see a penis find it's way into a vajayjay at the start.

It stars "willem defoe" and apparently he's junk was that big they used a stunt penis because it was off putting using he's.

My favourite horror recently has been “black summer” season 1. I’ve watched it about 4 times.

A lot of the criticisms that people give that show (lack of dialogue, simple story, no depth to characters) are the exact reason I like it! You can tell that it’s totally intentional that it’s stripped back to the bare bones. Nothing but running and hiding…

There are a few very intense episodes and scenes. And some incredible direction and editing too.

I'm crazy on slashers in all honesty haha, think iv seen nearly all his films it's hard to pick a fav from his work but halloween is definitely a stand out.

More action based I'm also a big fan of big trouble in little China and assault on Precinct 13.

I'm also a massive collector haha loving alot of the new arrow 4K re releases.

Whats your favourite horror film? A tie between Dawn Of The Dead / Blair Witch Project

Do you have any recommendations? - I like the VHS movies. Kinda low budget, sort of trashy, and that’s exactly how I like horror to be.

Shivers was my first cronenberg film and if I remember correctly is that the sex parasites and its filmed in Canada? His films always leave me feeling uneasy but I guess that's the point haha. Videodrome is brilliant! Long live the new flesh!

Favourite: Not really one specifically but as a whole the Saw franchise. I love the gore and the story as a whole. The spinoff films are shite however.

Recommendations: Sinister. It's a slow burner but has some real shock-factor moments.

Lesser known: Wouldn't say it was lesser known but A Quiet Place 1&2. Quitely understated from most people I know but a cinematic marvel (in my opinion).

Hope these help!

It took a while for me to dig this shiw. I felt like the acting wasnt great and, as you say, i felt dissatisfied with character development. But man, by the end of that first season I was totally invested and the chaotic steady cam shoot style totally won me over having lost faith in the walking dead. Which at a certain point I also loved. Deeply!. Like I had all the comics before Andrew Garfield even knew it was a thing.

I am not really a fan of horror films but grew up on the Hammer films with Peter Cushing & Christopher Lee.A few months ago for the first time in many years I watched Ben the film about a rat who is the leader of rats and it scared the life out of me just as it did all those years ago.The film is over 50 years old.If you don’t know the film you may know the song Ben as it was sung my Michael Jackson. Before Ben there was the film Willard which was a prequel to Ben again another scary film for me.

There's a very decent sci-fi horror starring Cushing and Lee called Night Of The Big Heat, although they act more together in Horror Express where they team up rather than being antagonists.

"I tend to like black and white horror films that focus more on atmosphere than jump scares or gore - Frankenstein, Island Of Lost Souls, Night Of The Demon.

I love alot of the early black and white horrors, anything universal monsters is always a treat. I think bela lugosi didn't get as much credit as Boris karloff did (both are amazing actors) but was a treat to see Bela pop up in island kf lost souls as didn't know he was in it when I first watch it.

I think Island Of Lost Souls is my favourite Lugosi performance, he's so good in it. It's a relatively small part but he makes it memorable."

Horror is filled with little characters like that when you think about it, crazy Ralph from Friday the 13th has like 3 mins of screen time but you remember him and the performance he gave.

'It's got a death curse!'

That's the one! Cronenberg's first few films were funded by a government programme to help Canadian film-makers. A major Canadian critic wrote a dreadful review, the headline was something like 'You should know how bad this disgusting film is - you paid for it.' The irony was that it was the first film made with that grant to make a profit. 'All flesh is erotic flesh.'

Crimes...is a difficult one for me as the horror is more realistic and surgical and I am easily icked out by stuff like that.

"Horror films from Hammer films with Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee to Martyrs and The Vanishing.

B Movie rubbish (but still enjoyable) Night of the Lepus (Giant Rabbits)

The Orphanage, Audition if you want foreign chills.

I personally found The Blair Witch Project disturbing when I first saw it.

Already mentioned but Night of the Demon (It’s in the trees it’s coming’ is a great shout and a recommendation

Love anything hammer put out in all honesty haha especially if Peter Cushing or Christopher Lee was in it, and both of them was a match made in heaven or would Hell be more appropriate haha

Thanks for the recommendations !

There's a very decent sci-fi horror starring Cushing and Lee called Night Of The Big Heat, although they act more together in Horror Express where they team up rather than being antagonists. "

One guys lass didn't tell us she was could not really handle horrors and we did all the Halloween films and apparently she didn't sleep for 2 days and always has to keep the light on, something about the william Shatner mask he wears really freaked her out. One I'd recommend? Well, there's a few. Tucker and Dale Vs Evil is fantastic - brilliantly done but not overdone.

Midsommar but I think a lot have probably heard about it now. Train to Busan is similar. Wake Wood for a more recent Hammer Horror.

Ohhh. The Strange Thing About The Johnsons for something a lot darker. Korean films like The Host. Or Thirst. Both have that bit more about them. And Dumplings.

I love horror films.

"My favourite horror recently has been “black summer” season 1.

Deeply!. Like I had all the comics before Andrew Garfield even knew it was a thing."

Right at this very moment - I’m watching season 2. I think it’s brilliant. I love the episodic structure, the stripped back and spare dialogue, the long and extravagant camera moves. It’s like a scary, immersive zombie experience rather than a conventional narrative.

A newer one - " It follows".. John Carpenter has been mentioned here & i think this film certainly has been influenced by him. This film disturbed me for few days afterwards.

Another newish one - "Barbarian" - entertaining i thought.
