We loved Prague. Similar to Vienna for the sights but a lot more to do once you’ve seen everything.

In Great Britain it would have to be York.

In Europe it would have to be Prague.

I would have chosen Ieper, which is medieval but has no building more than 100 years old but that's a town, not a city.

Only parts of most cities are beautiful. Towns can be almost all beautiful as development can reach a natural conclusion due to geographic features such as it’s built on a hilltop. If we ignore the ugly bits, Bruges is beautiful as is Ghent and NYC in a completely different way. I am biased, but think Harbourside in Bristol is beautiful. Where ever I have been in the world I have found beauty even if it was only a small part of the place or even if it is just the huge scale of industry there.

Any suggestions? I am going beginning of January. Short stay- only 2 days, so must make the most of it. I have done Table Mountain and took a tour of Boulders Beach, Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. I wanted to do a drive along Chapmans Peak as if looks stunning. I am not into alcohol or wine at all, so the wineries don’t appeal to me… but if there is any worth going for the food, I’ll go!

Grateful for suggestions. I was there in June amd weather was rubbish, now I am going in their summer. Beyond excited!

The old centre of Cape Town is pleasant enough. But it’s tiny. The great majority ain’t too great. The views though, sensational.

I missed out on seeing a cricket match there. The ground at Newlands is regarded as one of the most picturesque places in the world to admire the game.

Recommended, walk up Table Mountain. It’ll be bloody hot when you’re there so take several litres of water. Township tour and stay?

Get a taxi everywhere, dodgy after dark.

I worked in Simon's Town for the National Park for a while, the coast all around there is lovely esp on the train. I would definitely head down there!! The water is warmer that side too!

If you're into walking Platteklip Gorge it's great among others.

I'm not big into wine but still Franschhoek is worth visiting bc it's beautiful.

And yes Chapman's Peak is lovely. I always enjoyed driving in the area.

I'd give the marina a miss in the city. It was lovely and understated, it's really built up now
