I was attracted to him because the majority of the men today don't know what chivalry is. I am not a feminist some women are. I like old school chivalry. The charm and respect for one another. He is not handsome to some women but he is my world. Never argue we just get shit done. It's wonderful being on the same page writing the paragraphs together about life. There's often a disparity between dating and sex. I have a friend who's quite a lot younger than me, she likes much much older guys sexually but would never want to date one. For others sex with someone really attractive for one offs is great bc often aesthetics is what really matters but for dating what is desirable goes way beyond that. I know for my last long term partner had I met him on Tinder I wouldn't have swiped right.

Contrary to Fab folklore it's not all about looks. I've been punching on and off for 35 years

This also works the other way around and sometimes the man is much more attractive physically of course. Also I think what happens often with couples that have been together for many years is that they might well have been broadly similar in pure looks years ago but have "aged" differently. One has put on weight, one hasn't. One exercises and eats well. The other drinks and smokes a lot etc. One genetically is more likely to get wrinkles and one less so, etc. Over many years people can diverge a lot physically but still love eachother.

When I was 26 I met a guy who was 23 years older than me. We worked together...from the moment we met the chemistry between us was electric. The banter was always outstanding and for two half years he was my best friend and the first guy I had an open relationship with which I loved.

Non of his other birds knew about me, but I knew about all of them. And he knew about my other guys..he used to laugh and ask who's heart I'd broken this week.

There was mutual respect, no mind games and playing silly cunts..our time together was ours and there was no secrets about other people between us. He loved my wild no fucks to give attitude to life, and I adored him for it.

We used to do all the couple type things together, meals out, shopping, pubs, stay in cooking etc but neither of us would commit to each other. I don't know why, but it just worked. Maybe because we were cut from the same cloth. Looking back we'd have made cracking swingers lol

Aesthetically he wasn't much to look at. Proper dad bod and he only had one leg and needed viagra to get it up. He had a good job, but was up to his knickers in debt. But I had the time of my life with him.

All of his friends when they met me asked how the hell did he pull me. Money/looks never came into it. It was pure chemistry with that person.

I do love eye candy, but chemistry always wins me over

And personally, because I like the whole person and how they make me feel. Not just how they look. I enjoy how conversation flows and they make me laugh, how they treat me and make time for me, make me feel safe and sexy, and that sparkle in their eyes.

I think sometimes you can come across people and say oh I wouldn't have put those two together but at the end of the day, they chose each other for whatever reasons. I think for most people they want a spark for sure but the personality will win out most times.

Who wants to be with a nightmare or someone who you do not find engaging. I know for myself I would rather go without than have to deal with that. Maybe they think the same.

attraction in its most shallow form is based on looks and often not sustainable
