My Grandmother died on Christmas Eve '04.A few years before we had stopped doing the usual Christmas stuff,so going out for a walk and a picnic on Christmas day and watching the local hunt set off on Boxing day is normal and doesn't seem like a change since/because she died.

So sorry for your loss. Grief is a terrible thing and nothing I can say will take away the pain you feel.

It may be a small comfort to realise that we grieve for those we love and if you could remember all the things that you loved about your brother it may help with the hurt.

I know it's hard to think of all the good things he brought in to your life, especially at a time when you feel cheated by the tragic loss of him but if you can think of how he filled you with his love it may ease how empty you feel from his loss.

End of January start of February is always difficult. My mother passed away at the end of January 7 years ago... But her birthday is 8th of Feb.

I'd never say this time of year gets easier...

End of January start of February is always difficult. My mother passed away at the end of January 7 years ago... But her birthday is 8th of Feb.

Thanks, OP. My wife passed away in August last year and I think about her every day. Yes, the time of year doesn't help and I'm glad her decline was over spring and summer or it would have been so much worse.

My dad passed on friday, he didnt want to speak with me for last 10yrs, i kept trying, even down to last weekend when my brother asked once again, he refused me and my kids, took it with him to his grave, his request that i not attend his funeral and he told everybody i was out his will (not worried about the will bit), but to also refuse my kids hurts

Remember that those feeling also include joy, happiness and all those in-between that made him special in your life. Lost mine 2 years ago in July. His birthday would have been this coming Thursday so instead of feeling sad I go to a strip club and get a dance from a lady of the pole to honour his memory x
