Mammogram

My mum died of breast cancer and I've been for my first routine mammogram today.

I was a bit nervous as so many people had told me it was really painful and embarrassing.

I'll admit it was a bit uncomfortable but not painful.

Slightly embarrassing having my breasts handled and positioned but the lady was really professional and friendly and we had a bit of a giggle.

She told they have a really high level of non attendance.

I just wanted reassure people and say please don't be worried ladies, it's honestly not that bad and could save your life.

Don't ignore your letter when you get it, go and get it done.

I've been delaying my smear cos I just don't have the time or capacity to deal with HSIL or whatever. Hearing other people prioritise their health makes me feel bad and gives me the kick up the arse I need, so thanks.

I hope your results come back clear.

Well done, I had one last year and it was incredibly painful, but so important - we are lucky to get them provided for free... Fingers crossed for good news x

I had my (recall) smear last week - it made me bleed, but fingers crossed will be good news

Seconded.

It's minutes of discomfort and really not embarrassing at all. Just make sure to wear something that you can pop on easily once you've undressed

Ah please don't delay

I delayed and ended having CIN3 cells removed by LLETZ procedure. Was a scary time, and had to have yearly smears. Never missed one since

No I didn't as I had other stuff to do but I might treat myself tomorrow.

Oof, I hope you continue to get clear results. I'm struggling to find the time with poorly relatives to schedule my own things. Luckily, my GP is being very patient with me.
