A benefit of not being an avid TV watcher is not seeing Christmas Ads until they start being spoken about, leading me to go search for them.

I do quite like what John Lewis does reach year though. Last year's skateboard one was quite thought-provoking. If their intention is to make me shop with them, it doesn't work. Neither do any of the other shops ads...

Adopted daughter (girl from care home) also skates.

They now have this in common and can bond.

Unless there is something I am missing, I think that sums it up.

The skateboarding ad is thought provoking but I think that's a cynical move by John Lewis designed to persuade us to believe their motive is philanthropic. Their main motive is to persuade people to shop with them and to give a good impression of their business which isn't wrong they have responsibility for a lot of employees and I shareholders.

If the end result is that more people decide to foster that's a good thing though, surely. I'd be interested to know if that was the case.
