Its a deep primal thing in those with a praise kink. Again it's not just about being told they are doing something good.

But that's it, it's down the the individuals involved and their dynamic.

Lots of men will say it because they think it is what the other person wants.

For the majority of those that use the phrase correctly is because the submissive gets something from it. Of course the dominant person needs to be on board too.

Am ex of mine, pretty successful woman, very dominant out in the world and every day life. Her job required her to be, pinnacle of emotionless adulthood. Very little praise from her peers.

Back home though, her release was to lose lots of that control and power, to no longer be the lonely boss. It wasn't an age play thing in any sense but being told "good girl" brings back those emotions she had from a child when she was praised for things. Things she very rarely got anywhere else.
