Prompted by Brucey's nice thread. We've all met people that aren't nice, my questions are were you ever that person and what prompts people to behave like that.

I understand what you are saying but I'd reword it AS ......

We've all met people that we THINK aren't nice.

Because there are too many people that don't realise that how they perceive others and how they define nice is highly important in ANY transaction between two people.

Half the time the 'accuser' doesn't realise it's because of something they feel that they project on to the other person and that the other person is 'nice' What ever that means.

Some people dislike themselves so much they blame others for every little feeling they have.

I've been that person because I know some people don't like me. I don't think there are many universally liked people.

I read the O.P. as 'Have you ever been the 'not nice' person who puts others down'

Did you read it as you've had people putting you down ?

I wouldn't say I'm not nice but I can be quite outspoken and that tends to offend some people.

I've definitely been the not nice person, because if I'm in a bad mood, then I have zero tolerance for anyone's crap. Like they might think they're being funny or cute, but I won't see it that way. So they'll get told

I wasn't paying attention and missed the putting people down bit.

Some people don't like me therefore I'm not a nice person to them. As far as putting people down I'd concerned I'm probably perceived as doing that but it's rarely my intention. People do try to put me down but I'm too old and too tired for that nonsense

I think most people have been ‘not nice’ at some point. I know I’ve definitely been shitty in comments at times and I’m regretful of that. Sometimes the surroundings and circumstance spill over into other areas and it’s important to acknowledge that and learn when to step away from conversation. In general I try to be nice.

Maybe you read it right and I read it wrong who knows. It's a bit ambiguous.

I've never seen you put others down. You always seem 'sensible' and open to me. Honest if you like but never derogatory.

I don't think I've ever been one to put people down just because.

I have formed a negative view of some people because of their actions including the fact that they seem to live for putting others down. It's almost their USP on fab, or rather in private Fab.

Their public persona is totally different.

A little like playing tennis against themselves.

They serve up the nastiness and nip to the receiving court to condemn it.

I've no problem putting those type of people down but only in general terms and never by naming names.

Do you not think this is down to their own inner demons? Most of the time it’s learned behaviour, usually from a care giver or group of friends, most just do it to fit in with the ‘clique’ so they sacrifice their own values and integrity just to be liked.

I can only speak from experience and those I'm thinking of when typing this are obsessed with fab popularity.

I have had private conversations where they have shared private details of their own fab friends because they see that as currency for my friendship.

They have called other fabbers hideous, dangerous and unhinged and then follow that up by meeting and verifying them as amazing individuals.

If that is down to inner demons I still have no sympathy for them because I know that by ignoring how they are all things to all men and not agreeing with them they are also speaking about me to others in a negative way.

A recurrent theme I am hearing from multiple sources

Always be wary of gossipers because if they have the tendency to gossip about others behind their back what makes you so special that they won’t gossip about you?

It’s behaviour like this that makes people close off afraid to open up to others. I’m like marmite you either like me or you don’t I couldn’t give a fuck I’ll sleep the same at night. My brief experience with fab I don’t take it seriously anymore I just see it as a social site, keep myself to myself and add my opinion when I have something to say

I’d hope I wasn’t that person.

I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone unpleasant. Maybe someone who was having a bad day and a bit moody or they weren’t well and were a bit crabby, or rushing as late for something.

I tend to spot unpleasant people. Like in a restaurant or a shop, but thankfully that’s all.
