Where the flamboyance of flamingos live

Discombobulated is how I’m currently feeling. I started a thread a while ago about women of a certain age to raise how hard a time this phase in our lives can be.

This week I’ve find my self making less sense then the less sense I usually make!!

Moody, one minute I’m crying the next I’m like a scene from the exorcist. I have an important job and am finding I can no longer retain. Information and focus.

Sleep well that has always eluded me but now it’s got worse, 2am I woke this morning and I now just want to close my eyes and be asleep. Asleep and no longer full of anxiety, worry and trying to figure out well the hell I’ve gone!

Hugs to all the amazing ladies going through similar symptoms.

I have in the past been fobbed off with antidepressants from my GP when will understand it’s hormones I need to replace the ones I’m losing?

OP, you've just described me, so sending massive empathy vibes. I've been acting like a crazy lady recently and I don't like it... and the lack of sleep!!

We've got this ladies! We are strong and beautiful and not crazy and deranged... well maybe just a little!

And unfortunately perimenopause can take years.

Don't suffer in silence, see your GP.

See a different gp. Also if you mention writing a complaint to the practice manager they tend to take you a lot more seriously

Hugs, OP, but do speak to your GP and get them to understand you need HRT. Good luck!

Hope you get sorted soon OP, is it worth seeing a different Dr, I've recently been referred after previously being dismissed due to my age for premenopause symptoms, it's mainly hot flushes & night sweats as well as a few other bits.

Antidepressants do help some women. Just insist you'd rather go down the hrt route.

Gah, I’m with you!

I’m so annoyed with my body. After having my last period in January and stupidly getting my hopes up I was nearing the finishing line, I had a period this week. Lasted two days and super light. It wasn’t even worth having!!

My hot flushes seem to have calmed down a bit though, so I’m thankful for that. Small wins.

Look at NICE guidelines for menopause.

New guidelines due next year.

Sending love to all!

Nice to hear others are going through it, I can't stop crying, literally as soon as I stop and I think it's under control something will happen and it starts

Stupid stuff like my friend gave me some little velvety pumpkins and pumpkin lights, even that made me cry because it was just so sweet of her

Between that hot flushes and feeling low. Trying to hold out going to the Dr's because I don't know if I'm at that point and I don't want to waste his time. My GP surgery has a Dr specifically for menopause but last time I spoke to her she wasn't that helpful so that also puts me off going.

Just a thought ladies check if your work has a menopause policy, and find out what support it gives.

Mine does and they have been pretty supportive

We have a menopause policy and I have happily shared it with my counterparts and a well-being department. I break down and cry every time I speak to our well being rep.

My nan’s spare room.

I genuinely feel for you ladies who are struggling, it’s no comfort but it does reinforce the cruelty of nature.

A house, a very big house in the country

I'm with you here Op I've been to the doctors had blood tests done alas ...all negative but I'm still feeling this way, overly emotional, cramps are like a bitch, hot flushes out of nowhere

I believe I'm perimenopausal but who knows the symptoms are horrendous.

Specs xx

I heard a thing on the radio yesterday with Mariella Frostrup, who said that less than 15% of menopauses were diagnosed by a healthcare practitioner. I found this figure truly astounding. My mum really struggled and I fear my sister is going the same way. If I could do a solidarity fist pump on here I would.

OP I could have written that entire post it’s bloody awful. Sweaty emotional psychopath here and I’ve been staring at my computer for the last few hours. Hoping the patches settle down and life gets a bit more normal.

Hugs OP. I'm not there yet, but through other stuff I do get the brain fogg, unable to concentrate etc.

But I don't get the lack of sleep. I've got friends who are suffer from lack of sleep and they drink Sainsbury's bedtime infusions or pukka night time organic/bio teas. They find them useful. I hope that helps x

"Our work menopause policy is run and hide when i loose my temper x "

Ours is "have a fan and sit by the window" and "we will try to be understanding and nice to you". There was a whole-business post about World Menopause Day. I was the only person in a business of over 1000 people to respond. Says it all, really.

This is where a charity wins… we had a guest speaker menopause lifestyle coach. Was ace!

In the middle

At the age of 57 I can finally say I’ve gone through all the symptoms and come out the other side! However the brain fog is still hanging around and some days I feel like I’m living in a dream but at least I don’t cry so much now
