I work in healthcare and I'm always so shocked when people who go into nursing/healthcare are guilty of such horrific crimes.

I suppose some do it due to the opportunities it gives them to harm others.

Hope she's locked away for a long time.

I'm a father of a girl that was 3 months premature. The neonatal nurses in St Thomas's were brilliant.

It baffling to think what was going through her head. Serious mental heath issues but like a lot of serial killers you never really find out why ??

She’s young, so hopefully she’ll suffer longer and spend the rest of her life in total misery. As that’s what she’s done to those poor innocent families.

I feel for the jury members who had the unenviable job of having to listen to the evidence and try to find the truth. They’ll also be criticised as they couldn’t reach verdicts for some of the victims, so those families don’t get any closure or justice.

Congratulations to the Prosecution and Police who will also have to deal with the aftermath, joy they got their verdict after all of their hard work to get justice for the families and victims, but also what emotional impact the case would’ve done to them as well.

Horrible truly horrible.

An 'inquiry' as announced by the government is not sufficient, it should be a full public inquiry where people are compelled to attend and are on oath in their submission and answerability to the clear and obvious catastrophic failures that allowed Letby to continue killing..

There's been too many failures in the care of some of the most vulnerable in other NHS trusts in the last decade and lessons clearly are not being learnt..

Hospital management were concerned about how it would reflect on the hospital. You really have wonder about that decision making process. Many of the deaths were preventable had management not ignored the consultants concerns.

From thw article I have read she is nor the only one who should be locked up for the safety of the public. The managers, CEO and other directors are all responsible. The doctors deserve to be honoured for their persistence in getting the police involved. She needs to rot in hell and so donthe managers who failed to take the advice of the doctors for years.

I read that Cheshire Constabulary are currently reviewing 4,000 hospital admissions during Lucy Letby’s time working at the Countess Of Chester Hospital but have also stressed that they are not investigating all 4,000..

Simply put they are looking for anything suspicious or out off the ordinary to narrow down which could be linked as other possible victims she could have murdered that they are currently unaware off….

The questions that need answering are How and Why.

They will be able to answer How but not the Why?

Been thinking this morning is Why.

Does it make her feel powerful and God like?

Really cant understand Why.

To think she was there to hug and comfort the parents after the babies died and what she put all the other staff through when they tried so hard to save the babies.

I really hope every day is hell for her and the World is better off when she is not around.

Psychopaths or people who murder in sprees or are serial killers etc typically speaking their minds function in a different way then most leaning towards homicidal urges or fantasies which they act out upon in real life..

Experts studies say that each individual is different with some similarities or psychological mindset or causes/experiences/incidents from a young age or adulthood which gradually gets worse over time..

There are many cases off people having difficult or traumatic experiences/upbringing/influence or environment happening to them but with the help off support and rehabilitation/therapy they managed to over come and become better over a long period off time..

That being said those who commit murders like this took a whole different route in general and became beyond any sort off help..

Throughout history they have known who to target/prey on typically on more vulnerable targets and they are aware of where and how to take their opportunity to strike be it at random or planned..

The more vulnerable the targets the more easier in their mindset to go after them and chances are less likely their victims deaths are not always as thoroughly investigated/solved or linked together in a pattern..

Over time a lot off them slip up and leave a trail/evidence on their previous victims and the law enforcement authorities catch up manage to hunt them down…

Though not all off them some are more cautious and clever who have managed to evade capture and detection and the cases go cold due lack of suspects or evidence/witnesses…

I dont understand a couple of things.

When concerns were initially raised about her why wasnt she suspended pending investigation?

If the 7 consultants were as concerned as they said, why when mgmt didnt act, didnt they go to the police with their concerns?

She is evil for sure and I'm not sure theres a suitable punishment but it's also extremely distressing that some of those poor babies could have been saved had action been taken sooner.

Bless them all, poor little souls

I can't even imagine the pain of the parents of those angels and how much they have suffered in the hands of someone who should be looking after them . It revolts me that this happened and also the fact that management have done nothing to prevent. If i was in the place of those mum's and dad's i wouldn't have rest till all those manager and clinical leaders also be in jail . In my opinion they are also accountable for this horrendous crime .

This scenario from management and clinic leaders in helth care having this behaviour of protection to some staff that are reported but because their pretty faces/ fit bodies or because they do all to please the management , is unfortunately a reality that happens. This is a culture in health care and who works in health care knows what i'm saying.

I have saw so much disgusting behaviour in health care that is almost unbelievable how people can get away with their behaviour and inappropriate professional conduct , is disgusting. These same people also are the ones who make other employees lifes a misery at work place because they know what ever they sat to management or clinical leaders they always are listen and taken in consideration and believed in their words . I really hope they make everybody who had responsibility and haven't acted with ethical values to be accountable . From hospitals to care homes this culture really needs to stop , and people who feels someone is not correct to have the courage to report to independent authorities if they geel their voice will be silenced at work place by management and leaders

After 6yrs HR, duty managers, medical directors and chief executive are going to come under more scrutiny than they have.

I find it impossible too that we know she interacted with 4000 babies, yet hospitals she worked at until now haven't looked at excess deaths or incidents whilst she was on duty. I'd have thought when her name was released years ago, employers would have done this out of routine.

Believe me or not if was someone foreign, diferent ethnicity , skin color , they would have acted very differently. Once again Believe me or not, but i can't assure you this is a reality and a culture across the all health care sector

We may never find out the "why" but then look at Ted bundy, he felt the need to capture girls despite him being handsome, charming and not short of female attention.

She seemed to live a boring life and liked to create drama. Maybe she liked the attention of consoling parents. I'm sure she put on reports that she tried her best and was thanked for her efforts????

Extreme but maybe that's all we'll know

Really? Can I ask why? Do you think the Police investigation was a sham? Evidence and witness reports/statements not trustworthy enough? The investigation taking too little time to be thorough? The jury deliberating too little of a time?

If it was just one death then I could maybe understand how someone could come to that conclusion. Miscarriages of justice DO happen after all. But she was found guilty of 7 charges of murder and numerous other charges for attempted murder.

Independent reviews of the deaths (before the Police were brought in and charged her) stated that they believed that it should have been forwarded to police to look into (but that was covered up by the Hospital), so it’s not like someone just came up with a name and blamed her. The matter was extensively (too extensively really) looked into and then covered up before the Police even became involved.

It wasn’t a rushed investigation.

I posted the link yesterday to that interview on this thread.

what I learned which wasn't argued against is that several nurses worldwide were convicted of crimes but later found to be not guilty.

And also there was no factual evidence of her committing theses crimes.

It was experts giving an opinion.

10 month trial with no factual evidence. Ok.

Best to watch the video"

It is his experience as he has overturned wrong convictions in the past.

I have no criminal experience and know from history that the law is not always right, not always as it seems.

And I do not follow the mainstream I have my own opinion and watch other news outlets.

I think it's gone too far down the line to appeal or be overturned. Even if she survives prison and gets released in the future, she'd be labelled. She probably wouldn't survive in the outside world.

This is a complicated situation for sure. The girl deserves everything she gets today but I don't know how the trustees can claw back the trust and integrity that had been lost through their treatment of senior Dr's who tried to highlight there was a problem. That must of been horrendous, working with the girl and having those suspicions let alone being forced to apologise to her.

I believe the trust has new trustees who are having to deal with the mess while the former sits back and watches the fireworks on his 1.5 million pension

"I dont understand a couple of things.

Bless them all, poor little souls "

You just need to take a look at the coverage in some of the newspapers about her to see why she wasn’t suspended. “She doesn’t look like a serial killer” and other derivatives thereof. I strongly suspect that if she’d been a person of colour and the consultants who complained about her white, then it would’ve been identified and stopped much more quickly.

it must be so hard for the families to have looked at her all through the case but I'd want to see her face when the judge says you are sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance of parole until the year 2124.and hope the families give her a piece of there minds as that will be nothing compared to what she will get in prison.beat up every day ants in her food hope every day is painful for her.horrible horrible thing she is.

Brearey was the first doctor to be listened to but not the first to raise concerns. His complaints led to her being removed from frontline duties whereas previous concerns were ignored. Sadly the NHS has a long history of treating its ethnic minority staff differently to its British staff.

I don’t think it was allowed to happen purely because of ethnicity, I think it would have been stopped earlier had Letby not been an attractive white British nurse though.

"Justification for capital punishment."

There is never a justification for capital punishment, and all the miscarriages of justice in the years since its abolition should be sufficient reason alone for it to remain off the statute books.

But a prison sentence where the guilty convict wishes for capital punishment every day gets my vote.

Reading excerpts from the statements of the parents given at court today, it’s such sad reading. The babies that survived her murder attempts left with complex medical needs. I hope the law is changed so the person convicted has to attend the court for sentencing.

Should not be allowed. The argument that it's her right to refuse to be in the dock for sentencing should be waived if the victims, or their parents in this case, wish to exercise their right to have her there. Judge can direct she be brought up using reasonable force but if she creates a disturbance she'd be taken down again. Solution? A similar contraption to that used in The Silence of the Lambs for Hannibal Letter.

thing is if they forced a person to sit in dock/court , nothing can stop them from just ignoring all the questions/speech/sit there with eyes shut, goto sleep or just be an asshole in general with the proceedings .. this woman has nothing to lose so really wouldn't have a care in the world now as whatever she did is irrelevant to her sentence/life as she is going to die in prison regardless ..

It's a given she is fucked inside sooner or later , unless she goes full lunatic and start fighting/killing inmates to get herself in solitary / locked 23hours a day . or the other option she does an Epstein .

Glad to hear this total scum bag has a total life sentence. No matter how much they have a duty to protect and keep her safe in side...some other inmate will eventually get their hands on her and hopefully inflict some real nasty injuries to her maybe even death. A cell with some privileges she may earn are not punishment enough for what she has done. My thoughts go to all those parents that have lost such a precious soul...and also to the parents who's babies survived but have been left with life changing conditions!!

I do hope she is a subject of research. During the panorama programme, I got the impression the psychologist didn't think she had the typical traits of a serial killer. Studies may reveal hidden traits important to forensic psychology.

We don't want another Beverly Allitt or Lucy Letby.

Nor do we need a system that enabled her. In future police need to be called in at first suspicions.

So it seems this case has opened the worm bag again after that child killer refused to stand in the dock so the mother could confront him.

I see on the news a law change will most likely come into affect.

Question how can they make a convict confront justice, in the USA, they are trussed up like Hannibal lector put on a stretcher with wheels, which is stood upright so the convict cannot talk or move and faced in to the court.

Do you think that will come into law here?
