How many books

Random, non-swinger question - how many books do you own?

Doesn't matter if you include kindle or paperback. And feel free to list each separately.

According to my librarything account, I currently have 1113 books (paperback and hardback). Not sure how many on my kindle.

If that sounds like a lot, bear in mind that I live in a shit-hole, don't eat properly and rarely buy new clothes. So maybe I'm just bad with money!

When we moved to Devon 14 years ago I had over 2,000 physical books. I've had to get rid of a few but most are still here.

And I've at least that on my kindle.

The only ones I really own now is the disc world series and a handful of others. Used to have several hundred but had to scale back storage wise. Mostly read on kindle these days as I can get through a book in a day if I've nothing much else to do.

At a conservative guess...

35 books across each shelf.

Most shelves double stacked.

9 shelves per bookcase.

14 bookcases.

30 books per pile on the floor where no bookshelf space.

At least 8 piles on the floor.

Lots of books in the rented storage space.

= I'm guessing somewhere North of 10,000 books.

I also have a comics and graphic novels collection of something like 40,000 items (I was indexing it, got as far as "R" with 30,000 issues, not had enough free time to finish the indexing but there's one hell of a lot of "S" - Superman, Sandman, Starman, Swampthing - and one hell of a lot of "X" - all the X-Men related titles).

I guess you could say that I'm not short of reading material...

The smell of books, especially old books as the binding glue slowly breaks down, is wonderful. I love old bookshops, they smell like the knowledge of the ages.

Between my wife, daughter and myself, we have quite a few. Too onerous to count them all. I spend my life reading technical documentation and code, and then I read the news online. So I don't have the time and energy to read as much as I should, these days.

After slowly collecting 500+ paper books over decades I discovered ebooks and currently have more than 64000. You may ask yourself why, but most are reference works, for the day you should hope will never come, when civilization collapses. Yeah

I have a lot of physical books, we just don’t have any where to put them so kept are stored in boxes under the bed which makes me sad, I’d love to have a nice cosy reading nook! I love reading but don’t get enough time for it, I set myself a goal of reading 52 books this year and downloaded the kindle app on my phone which has helped me keep on track massively! I do prefer a proper book in my hands but the app means I can take my book every where with me.
