Exactly this, none of us know what other people are going through so snarky comments about living in a first world country etc are just not necessary

You know what, it absolutely can be. Do you want to get off your chest whatever is bothering you? Sometimes just talking about it and people listening can make you feel better. None of the 'other people have it worse' or 'chin up it will get better' bollocks. Have your moment to speak and I hope it finds you some peace of mind.

If you have something that you need support solving, just make it clear and hopefully you will get some serious answers to support you.

I hope you get some peace and feel better.

Mem don't talk about their mental health which is why so many men die by means of suicide. Shutting down conversations with a comment like that just serves to re-affirm the stigma around men opening g up about their feelings

OP life can be truly shit, and I know I'm one of at least 2 people on this thread who have seen the darkest of times. But we're both still here still fighting and still surviving.

However shit life feels and however bleak it feels, as cliched as it sounds, life does get better.

Reach out, seek support tell your friends, post on the mental health threads on here, speak to mental gwLth charities, speak to your GP, theresca lot of people that will help you

100% absolutely. People answering that others are worse off etc, need to do one, they are just stopping those who reach out from actually getting help if needed.

If you're in a very bad place, the Samaritans can help you centre yourself in the immediate term.

I know it's challenging, but also try to speak to your GP.

It’s hard when you feel low, but know that you’re never as alone as you actually think you are. Always talk to someone - whether it’s a random friendly stranger here, Samaritans or someone else, just talk!!!

As a sufferer of mental health it takes strength to talk about ithave support from family and friends But is a different matter I work as an engineer and it’s so hard to talk to other men about mental health issues as it’s a taboo

Wished my father would have talked about his issues maybe he wouldn’t have committed suicide it’s so hard to deal with the aftermath the effect it had on myself as well as mom and my brother.

I have suffered ever since and have recently been diagnosed with a border line personality disorder which has a stigma all on its own .., I just want to be judged on who i am

Sometimes ya gotta drag people down a little before they can drag you up a lot. Ignore people who watch you while you’re down there.

Life isn’t shit, it just feels like it sometimes. But unless you’re on fire you can choose when to deal with things, pick your fights and pick your moments. If today isn’t that day then don’t fight. Go find a little peace. It’ll be there when you’re feeling up to dealing with it, and the big black dog won’t seem so big.

When you start to feel down do the opposite of what your depression wants you to do. Ie stay in bed it’s nice in here. Get up (I know it’s the hardest thing in the world to do) and keep moving don’t sit down don’t have a cuppa tea and put off. Get clothes on and go for a 20min walk. The fresh air and light hitting your eyes and the exercise will help a lot.

And remember this isn’t you normally and you will be the real you again.

Some how find the strength to keep moving. Don’t sit and stay still.

It’s taken me a long time to see my patterns and if you can see the signs early and have the strength to get out the house go for a walk. 20 mins minimum do more if possible.

This

And I thought the Forums were welcoming to all. People who are new are told to; "get stuck in, comment on threads, get involved and people will get to know you" the comments on this thread are the reason people don't and the reason people feel alienated.

Nobody's mental health should be negated or belittled. Yes maybe there are people worse off but that just invalidates what that person is going through. Nobody deserved to feel invalidated

Seek some support OP, and remember tomorrow is another day. Small steps

Hope you're ok OP. I'm sure we are all aware there are people in the world worse off than us but when you're feeling shit that thought doesn't make you feel better. It's ok to be selfish about how YOU feel when you're having a bad day.

I'd echo what someone said above about bereavement counselling if you're still struggling with losing your dad

And never feel like you can't reach out on here, despite the few earlier comments there are lots of people on the forums who are happy to listen and offer advice if that's what you're needing.
