As an awkward teen, sure.

But it's the world we're in. No point fantasising or wishing things were different when they're not and cannot be. So just be you in the world you're in. It's all any of us can do

No not really. After all it's my life, I have the power to change it. I refuse to sit in want of things to be different but then not do anything differently. We cannot always have what we want but then we need to realise that fact and let it go. It's not always easy but it's important.

I hope you're okay OP and the morning brings with it some more positive feelings.

I have felt like that sometimes in the past. Like I'm just not right, this world isn't for me. Or more, I'm not suited to it. But, that feeling goes. And I remember how good life can be. How much I'm meant to be part of it. I hope you remember that soon, x

There are many schools of thought on this and we all have our dark days, some more than others but unfortunately dark days are a consequence of life.

George Orwell said, acceptance is a way to happiness and people often confuse this with lacking ambition or “gumption”, but it’s really not true, change the things you want to and most importantly can, and accept those things you can’t, to find peace and live in joy.

OP your original post is gone, but “living the wrong life” is fundamentally a “choice”, the alternative might be hard, it might require sacrifice and come with risk, but if you feel you are living the wrong life, then you have decided to not do the difficult, not make the sacrifice, not take the risk. You have chosen to “not take the hill”.

Good luck.

In some ways, yes. I always feel like I’m a misfit. On the periphery of life. There are glimmers where I feel like I fit, but they’re few and far between.

I’m used to that feeling too though. There’s a comfort in the discomfort, if that makes sense.

Not all that North of North London

I don't think I've ever consciousky felt I'm in the wrong life, I have however spent most pf my life not understanding the world I live in and not feeling I belong in it. I'm not sure if that's the same thing though?

Not at all, it's a great life, inflation was kind to us without any need or demand for government subsidies, good pensions built up over many years, a sensible (mainly) populace, despite the usual inept government - and getting more inept by the day.

I am glad to be the age I am as I can see no future except decline for a UK so badly managed for so many years.

How much longer can a reducing number of nett tax payers subsidise an increasing number of nett claimants and beneficiaries.

I am darned glad I ain't a teenager today!

Not really.

Very often, in the life I have, I feel out of place but that’s more about the situation than my combined life experiences and behaviour.

I’m lucky to have some brilliant friends, some great connections on fab, the internet for things like dating and a decent job which pays the bills and leaves me some leftover for stuff. And things.

I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to live any earlier in time - I like the tech we have now. If I was born now, obviously I wouldn’t know any different, but I would probably suffer more from our throw-away and online culture.

Is my life perfect? No. Very far from it. But it’s ok and that’s enough for me.

All I’d ask is a smidge more sex and a great relationship. Then I’ll be PFP - proper fucking happy.

Really interesting looking at the responses. I was pretty low when I posted this. As we all have highs and lows. Lots of people showed real empathy and humanity, but some people just don’t care. But why would they, they don’t know me from Adam. But thanks for those who care about a stranger, I care and don’t want to see anyone suffer. I’m always available to talk
