Men reading women

A new study has shown men are more likely to understand a woman's mood if they send him an emoji than expecting them to read their face. Are men that bad or is botox just that good?

Depends on the man, or the quality of the botox

Facial expression, tone of voice, body language, eye contact. Not sure that all fits into an emoji.

I tend to go for low verbal filtering, high emotional expression. I like the energy and that they feel comfortable with me.

Then there's poker face dry sarcasm approach. That has its charm, in small doses.

As long as it gets expressed and I'm not walking on eggshells - I'm a happy bunny.

He wont have to worry about how a loved one is feeling??

Oh, wait....what if he only truly loves and cares about himself, does he not need to care about how he is feeling?

Or...are you talking bollocks again?

I'd want a partner to care about how I feel, but not to worry about it.

"If a man is living life to his true potential he won't have to worry about this "

I think what he means is that a man living to his true potential will be able to see a woman's emotions and understand her feelings, then act accordingly i.ed. the true gentleman, a real man

I don't know if that's what he meant, but that's what I would be talking about if I said that

Speaking as someone with autism, I’m frequently baffled by personal interactions. Trying to understand someone’s mood is a minefield. So all help is gratefully received

From his hospital bed Bob wondered if he’d ever understand women

Lol this reminds me of something an ex once said to me

A husband and wife are on a road trip

The wife sees a sign for a cafe and asks the husband if he would like a coffee and he simply replies "no I don't feel like having coffee right now"

They continue on their road trip and a little while later they see another sign for a cafe

The husband says to the wife "okay I'm going to pull into that cafe and get a coffee"

The wife, with a frown on her face, arms folded and looking out the passenger window says "no keep driving"

The husband is baffled and doesn't understand why his wife upset

The moral of the story is, if she asks you if you want a coffee or something to eat, what she really means is... SHE WANTS A COFFEE AND SHES HUNGRY

I have family members with autism and I know they find mood really hard to gauge. It must be very tricky at times.

Is it just me or is this really obvious? (Not the OP, but the research!)

If I sent a sad emoji, I'd literally be telling that person I'm sad, and vice versa?

I think many women bottle their emotions up and then either explode at a later time with a high amount of sed emotion, or mull over how they're feeling internally, work through it and come out the other side with a different adaptation of mood.

By this age, we know that most men just won't get half of what we feel. We're simply built differently. That's not to say that men shouldn't attempt to be empathetic, and that women should stop trying to communicate.

To be fair I've been really clear about what I'm feeling or thinking and spelt it out and it still goes over heads.

I think it boils down to how much the man wants to understand a woman and if he is actually bothered enough to do anything about it.

A man that's interested will pay attention a man that's not won't.

The arrogant ones that love themselves will simply not give a fuck.

Doesn't matter if you have botox or what emoji you use.

Same applies to women though.

Just to check, someone can more easily understand how someone else is feeling if that second person explicitly says how they're feeling by use of a pictogram. This research feels like a candidate for an Ig-Nobel award....
