Anyone seen the Oscar's interview with Mr Grant where he was apparently rude?

I didn't think he was particularly rude, just bored and a bit stand offish. It reminded me of the Robert Smith classic red carpet moment but less funny.

I love seeing celebrities being every bit as listless and arsey as us mere mortals, it humanises them a bit more

I don’t think he was particularly rude.

He just wasn’t playing along with the faux niceness.

Yeah, I saw it. I love Hugh, but he was a bit curt. Maybe unnecessarily.

It must be dull to be asked the same questions over and over, but I guess he knew what to expect, and she's also just trying to do her job...

I haven't seen it do I don't know if he can as rude or not.

In general I think if you're a celebrity your job involves being nice at the Oscars, if you don't want to do that don't go. A different matter entirely if you're a celebrity going about your private business

couple, us we him her.

I get that they are human and being offish on a Tuesday night at some nomark event in Guildford.

But the one place that celebrities should be "celebrities" and all the fake shit that goes along with their inflated egos and pay packet is The Oscars, the one night when teeth are bleached tan is turned up to 11, outfits cost enough to pay off the national debt of a small country and yes fake smiles are aplenty.

So as much as I like Hugh could he not suck it up for one night of super fakeness ?

It's a good job I'm not famous. I never slap a fake smile on and just act according to how I'm feeling. The CEO of my work learned that the hard way

I love Hugh Grant. He was on Graham Norton years ago and he was hilarious, maybe having a bad day. Hardly news with all the stuff going on in the world right now

Where’s Tom when you need him?

No, not seen it. Not a big fan of the guy. Wouldn't surprise me if he behaved like a complete arse as he usually does

He wasn't being an arse though. He was a bit awkward and bored and didn't give the usual gushing, arse-licking answers expected of him

Mayfair

I've bumped into him a few times or sat next to him in my local. He is the most unfriendliest sourpuss I've come across.

Worse than that is his father: an equally cantankerous so-and-so who enjoys berating well-behaved teenagers in the local park who are doing nothing but minding their own business and playing football.

Wirral.

I've just watched it.

He wasn't rude at all. I actually thought SHE was rude & dismissive to HIM. She asked an inane question to which he answered truthfully, and with a smile, I might add. She then dismissed him.

Same. It's also that British thing of deliberately playing stuff down and being a bit awkward. I thought it was quite funny

What would you like him to do, the dance of the seven veils whenever he encounters you?!

Not all that North of North London

The interviewer was awful and he made thst clear. She asked dull questions of zero relevance to him. I mean "who made your suit" and "who are you looking forward to seeing" along with discussing a film he was barely in,were unlikely to get any real buy-in were they

No, a few cartwheels would be fine.

He is irascible and stand-offish in his demeanour.

Agreed. They were vacuous questions.

Hugh grant is still my celebrity crush . Well one of then.

In my head he will always be the floppy haired, bumbling English man.

I still would even now

I saw his new film yesterday . ‘Operation Fortune’. It’s the new Guy Ritchie film with Jason Statham.

To me he basically just played the same character as in ‘the gentlemen’. In terms of mannerisms, way of talking etc.

He doesn’t seem terribly versatile.

To be fair he was on the Oscars 'red' carpet..experience would have told him an encounter with a journalist in that situation was unlikely to be deep & meaningful.
