"Lonely I’d different to be alone. You can be in a marriage but feel alone . You can be in a crowded room and feel that sense of loneliness . Sometimes having your own alone time is great and at other times it’s just lonely … if that makes sense? " You know as well as I do that I know exactly how you feel

"I am desperate to be alone. I have a very people-facing job, and a beautiful but sometimes very needy child. I have never in all my life felt that a situation would be improved by having more people in it. On the other hand, I've never felt lonelier than during my marriage, when I was almost never alone. So the distinction is indeed vital, and understood." I get all that I’m happy in my own skin being me I was very alone the last five years of my last relationship I have been alone 5 yrs almost but rarely feel lonely

"I'm quite often alone when I'm not in work but it's very rare that I actually feel lonely. The peace and quiet after a load shifts in work is something I enjoy. I have my dogs and I don't get lonely when I am alone at home. Some of the loneliest times in my life though where when I was in a relationship with someone who didn't care as much as I did about the relationship and that is the worst feeling in the world. I learnt after that to never settle for someone who puts you way down their list of priorities. I'm very lucky as I have some close friends and family who check in on me and I think that is very important for anyone to know that you do have people there who care." I dont have anyone to care for me or love me or pop in on me

"Is there a difference to being alone or lonely, what does it mean to you to be alone or lonely? Alone and lonely are both adjectives, but they have different meanings. A person is alone when they are by themself. A person is lonely when they feel abandoned or sad due to isolation. Since alone and solitary both contain the letter A, you can remember that alone refers to a state of solitude, rather than an emotion. There are times we all feel lonely. The feelings of loneliness are personal, so everyone’s experiences of loneliness will be different. One common description of loneliness is the feeling we get when our need for rewarding social contact and relationships is not met. But loneliness is not always the same as being alone." for me ALONE means you are on your own for a certain length of time,, a few hours or days,, being LONELY means being on my own 24/7 no company at all,, no human interaction at all humans are a social animals and need a certain amount of contact with others, the older we get the more lonely we become due to losing our close family,, partner kids etc,, and to counteract this we need to go places to get our little fix of human contact at,,i think that is why we see so many old people sitting in shopping centres and wandering round supermarkets so i always make a point of chatting to any i can,,, it might just make their day and give them help to get through another night ALONE and not feel LONELY

"As an introvert I need alone time to recharge. People often confuse the 2" I realise now I`m like yourself and (often) hard to fit In with others those circles are often smaller and harder to find by having something In common and meeting the right people do I feel relaxed and can come out of myself but that's been a big part of my life and Its a part of who I am.

"Alone suggests being on your own by choice. Lonely suggests you're on your own but would rather not be." I think for those that suffer with it Its more complex .you can be lonely I'm a room full of people or been with one or none its in your head your heart as to what's causing the feeling .

"I like my alone time, having a coffee by myself, roadtrips by myself. Loneliness can b in a room full of people and be so lonely. I've learnt over the last couple of years to remove myself from them situations, I have found my tribe on here and Loneliness is a shadow in my life that is getting smaller" So resonate with this. Most of my loneliest times have been when in company never when I’m alone. Going to take the advice to remove myself from these situations and not just keep repeating again and again.
