No but I once gave a friendly bit of advice to a woman who mentioned she only meets guys at her place even though she had a very young child.

I simply told her to be very careful who you invite home.

Her response was "Don't patronise me!"

Here and There

I don’t often pay compliments but actually did today. I wasn’t interested in the guy but thought he had a superb profile, so I told him so but prefaced it by saying it wasn’t a come on.

Receiving compliments can be lovely, but like the person said above I don’t really enjoy it if it’s from someone I don’t find attractive. My experience is that, like you OP, a compliment is often used as an icebreaker. If that person isn’t what I’m looking for I want to avoid the conversation escalating so I do use the block button.

Arsey status updates are so childish that we sometimes block just to stop us being the victim of one somewhere down the line.

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

By (user no longer on site)

Just a thought OP.

Some here, block just to avoid contact.

If they feel they won't have interest, rather than be pulled into a conversation, and feel pressured to say no thank you, they block.

It's nothing personal to you, for some reason you're not what they're looking for.

I wonder what the compliment was, because that's another thing, they might not have seen it the way you have.

We all deal with things differently, and maybe they were correct to block, as your response of a status and forum thread to rejection is enough to put many off.

They chose to do what they wanted with their profile.

Unfortunately, that mean in this case, restricting contact with you.

I wonder how many others they blocked on the same day.

Enjoy the positive aspect this site can bring, don't allow how others use it to offend you.

A friendly message showing you have read their profile, not just looked at the pictures is the best way. A random compliment knowing she lived miles away is a bit weird and the wording you used is dreadful. Despite being from that country you thought she was beautiful. That's actually a huge insult.

Moaning about it on here and on your status isn't a good move either.

All part and parcel of playing on Fabs. The benefits far outweigh the negatives. Opportunity to meet and connect with like minded peeps to have an abundance (NSA discreet) fun of getting down and sticky, makes it all worthwhile. A good few blocks, who cares. Sometimes what people (mainly men) think is a compliment, very much isn’t. You may not like this, you may weep and wail about how women can’t take a joke or are ‘up themselves’ but you don’t get to decide what other people think.

Move on and realise they just aren’t a good fit for you.
