Anyone feel pissed off that if do get a pay rise this year which mine is 4% but lazy work shy people at my work whos money will go up to £10:40 or like my company £10:90 are getting a far bigger rise for absolutely no skill, may as well be sweeper upper and do overtime. NO INCENTIVE

Surely the problem isn't that your company is giving it's employees pay rises? In your opinion the problem is that at some employees aren't doing their jobs. In which case, what have you done to address that?

Would you rather your company didn't give out pay rises in case someone undeserving accidently got one?

These so called "no skill" workers I.e supermarket workers bin men , porters, cleaners , kept this country ticking over during the pandemic, people seem to forget that

Not really, plenty of people i daresay work hard on that kind of money. The op has the option to look for another job if it annoys him so much, my job due to different contracts has a massive pay disparity for us all doing the same job. I like the job so accept it, if it bugged me id move on. He has a choice.

Then follow their lead and get the same results.problem solved.

Or you could just grass them up to the higher ups.

Either way would offer better solutions than just putting all your effort in to bitching and moaning about it that won't change a damn thing.

There's also lazy old people.

Everyone who works should earn a livable wage.

It's not the lower earners fault that your company doesn't reward you appropriately for your skills.

No one should be unable to pay their bills just so I can feel better about the % of my own payrise.

Every workplace has lazy people, people who work hard but are so hopeless they achieve less than the lazy ones, the ones who call in sick for spurious reasons but stay just on the right side of company sick policy and the ones who turn up, do a good job and go home.

We all think we're the last one . I eventually realised that I would get exactly the same pay and recognition as all the above people but pride and conscientiousness kept me doing my best.

It's almost like young people on miminum wage who are looked down on by their more experienced colleagues have no motivation to do anything other than the acceptable minimum.

Don't get me wrong, I am think that generationally the work ethic has decreased massively. This is in part due to how our society and culture works now, there's always someone to help out or pick up the slack. As I say with most things, if you have the energy to moan about it, you should have the energy to do something about it too.

I actually don’t get annoyed at anyone else’s pay rises at all OP. I would get annoyed if I didn’t earn the money I deserve and put that right first. Life isn’t a competition between you and others at all. It’s about making the best of your own lot

What someone else gets as a pay rise is none of my concern. I want a payrise, either I’ll speak to my company or I take my skills somewhere that’s willing to pay what I want.

But I never bash those working the min-wage jobs, they still need to be done and above all, still important.

I’m also one of less than five who have my qualifications?

Yes there are people who make a career out of the benefits system but that’s down to those that believe we as tax payers should fund them ?

The people that have the biggest problem are those in poorly paid work that work hard do overtime to get more but it can’t keep up with inflation ?

We need a big shake up of our benefits system that makes it worthwhile getting a job ?

Could agree more! The number of people who've never contributed and get paid to do nothing has always been a bugbear for me. Some people genuinely need that support when things go wrong, but there are many who feel entitled to a free ride

I wouldn't worry about other people and what they are getting, or deciding if they deserve what they are getting

Personally when I was working I wouldn't feel pride in my work unless I had put 100% into it.

If I wasn't happy with my salary I would move on.

My boss is an absolute twat.

I haven't had a pay rise for around 5 years.

I'm contracted to do 40hours a week, yet on a weekly basis I am doing at least 60.

I supposed to of had my 28 days holiday last year but only got 10 and can't carry it over.

I don't get lunch break some days too

I would tell him to stick it, but I can't

If you feel your not being paid your worth or are unhappy with the pay structure of the company you work for maybe now with the vacancies there are in the economy it's time to move on?

This is why I’ll never work for uk companies, they are so tight. Last year I got 20% this year I’m expecting 25-30

Some unhappy folk in here.

Reality check.. we are all screwed, poor governance and lies have led us to this point.

We can moan about those younger and the next generation BUT that was is once and those before us moaned about us too.

Right now we need to pull together stand strong and stop us being divided by the elites who piss in our tea while we drink it

Well after watching union reps say their members have to use food banks ? That really gets me going

A newly qualified nurse get over £5000 more than me and teachers even more so how is it that I don’t like lots of low paid workers don’t ?

Or could it be we have the knowledge that out goings shouldn’t be to near incomings so that any move in prices we can cope with ?

I still don’t get how benefits have gone up in line with inflation?? Either
