I guess this hardly happens but the response.

I was asking because some pubs are refusing to take my cash now.

If I get over charged a few quid here and there, I wouldn't have a clue.

I had £800 scammed out of my account once. Luckily my bank were very good and their fraud team contacted me quickly. They refunded the money too.

Littlehampton

Cash is more expensive to handle. It has to be stored securely, and then taken to the bank, which will charge for the pleasure. Card is quick, the money's in the account instantly, minus a few percent, and no one stuck their fingers in the till.

No point bleating about "legal tender" like some morons keep doing.

Carisbrooke, Isle of Wight

Got a phone call from Barclaycard earlier today to notify of fraudulent spending because of weird shopping patterns. Told them I'm hanging up and gonna phone the number on the card.

Turns out it was genuine, but I thought that went against common advice. They did say its surprising how many spill the beans without questioning whether or not the validity of the caller.

They did say I was right to be suspicious and took the view that they'd sooner be hung up on and take the call from their card telephone number.

If in doubt hang up and ring them yourself.

Was charged twice for building insurance last month. Only noticed it when I thought my credit car bill was higher than expected.

Card machines cost everyone money, when they get rid of the banks you'll have to spend an hour on the phone trying to get queries sorted and another load of people out of work bank clerks and managers looking for jobs, plus your every move logged

Most leggit garages are not allowed to accept cash over 3k. Its to stop fraud.

You'd be lucky to talk with anyone on the phone. My banks don't have phones anymore.

It's all email this and that these days. Why can't they talk on the phone ffs !

"Do people not check their bank accounts regularly?"

I get statements every so often but If there was a few quid missing here and there I'd be blind to it.

I can't remember exactly what I did last week, nevermind what I spent through the month.

This is why I prefer cash. My limit is what is in my pocket.
