Dust off and start again.

When your back is against the wall, the only way is forward.

Set small tasks that can be completed, as you do it motivates you to do more and more and the sense of achievement will bring the joys.

Remember, nothing in life is permanent, the bad times test us and strengthen us, the good times are they to enjoy and celebrate.

Don't let the bastards get you down

Get on the phone to counsellor. I'm lucky work provide free service but industry I'm in is one of the worst for stress.

Good luck with NHS, if you can afford it, always go private.

Samaritans

GP

Trusted friend to confide in

In addition, I think of my personal recovery from a depressive episode as happening in three stages. Comfort, rebuild, restore. Comfort is chocolate, hot baths, bingeing on TV. Stuff that feels good even if it's bad for you. Wallow. Rebuild is stuff that makes you feel good about yourself but doesn't directly address the problem - step count, connection with others, working towards small goals.

When you're feeling a bit stronger, then try to tackle the demons head on.

Please have a look at the attached link.

I feel it would be ok with the mods as it is a government link.

There are lots of services listed available 24-hours a day to help you.

The Samaritans, it's quite literally why they're there. On the rare occasion I've called them they've left me feeling lighter and like there was a way out.

Try showing yourself the compassion you'd show someone else.

I'd never say all the vicious things to another that I say to myself.

It's more common than you think, and especially with the financial pressures of cost of living straight after covid

Genuinely if anyone ever needs to talk I'd listen there's far too much stigma still about mental health "only look down on someone if your helping them back up"

It's a sex site, but deep down we all want love just sometimes different forms.

Everyone wants to be desired and to desire

All the advice you've been given is fantastic.

I absolutely promise you, THIS is the lowest point you'll ever be at,therefore, every tiny step up from this is a move in the right direction.

You may have days that are not great in the future but, the fact you're reaching out and acknowledging you want help is a MASSIVE achievement and one you should be proud of.

Hold your head high and know that you deserve to be listened to because YOU matter.

I wish you so much positivity moving forward.

"I'll talk to anyone that will listen, although hate burdening people with my shit!"

My dad is going through his own issues at the moment. Whether his and yours are the same makes no difference. How they make him you feel is what counts.

He is like you he doesn't want to burden us his children with his shit. I will tell you what I said to him thats bollox. We are his family him being ill whether mental or physical isn't a burden he has always been there for us we will always be there for him helping him will never be a burden. Thankfully dad is doing better and hopefully that continues. Your family and closest friends will tell you the same. Talk to your nearest and dearest you don't need to tell them everything just that you need them they will be there for you. The rest speak to people like the smaritans and they will help you get your life back in balance. Hopefully something you read on here will help you.

I second Samaritan’s, the text service was great last year when I lost my way, amazing staff. And known it’s clique but honestly get outside, wrap up and get offline and appreciate our wonderful world

Read: "the comfort book" by matt haig.

Its not a long laborious read - its just small anecdotes that are, funnily enough, comforting.

Samaritans also do a self help app which guides you through therapeutic techniques (though it's worth saying that some of these can be a bit too much if you're in crisis)

Writing down how you feel can also be helpful.

Try your best to focus on things you are grateful for. Even the smallest thing like a sunny day or a a chat with a friend.

You're not on your own. This feeling is temporary. I promise x

"Spoke to GP today, got some antidepressants to pick up tomorrow, going to see a new therapist Friday week.."

You've taken a very brave step- please feel proud of yourself for going to the gp! That's amazing! The meds will take a little time to start helping you, but in the meantime, don't think too far ahead...think about getting comfy, warm & having a good rest tonight. In the morning, think about what breakfast you can make, then think about how to fill the next hour, maybe with a shower, then the next couple of hours etc etc.

You absolutely WILL get through this. It's always darkest before the dawn.

Your mates will happily listen to you- please don't ever feel that you're a burden on your loved ones. Chat on here when you need to, try to nourish & care for your body with some good food even if it's a piece of fruit. You can do this- you're not alone xxx

I always try to turn a negative thought into a positive one..

Also it's been mentioned Samaritans, they are amazing, helps get things in prospective.

Talking to a stranger is sometimes better than taking to someone you know..

I had a period of feeling really low about the end of last year after going through some stuff.

I tried to carry on as normal, until a friend in work said to me “you’re so brave, I don’t know how you’re still here” and I fell apart and realised I needed help. I didn’t want to start on medication for my own reasons (though meds are totally valid for those who do use them) so I self referred to counselling.

It’s been hard, I’m not going to pretend. And there’s been times when I’ve not been sure it’s helping, but looking back it really has made a difference.

I started with CBT until I was ready to start counselling, at their recommendation when I did the induction. I really would recommend it to anyone.

This too shall pass x
