Solo Minibreak Recommendations

Jump to newest

I’ve got some time off coming up and I’ll thinking about taking a little solo minibreak. Does anyone have any good suggestions?

I’d love it to be easily accessible by train, not too taxing on the bank account, and with some nice pubs/restaurants and things to do (museums, galleries, local history etc)

Thanks

Scunthorpe

York is lovely and easy to get to. Best prices are just outside the city.

Liverpool is a great city, deals can be found for decently priced hotels.

"Chester"

I'd second Chester, but York is lovely too!

Further afield, Edinburgh or Aviemore are lovely places too...

Aviemore is without museums though....

Well, I'm in Glasgow, so have been to Edinburgh a fair few times. Never been to Aviemore though; always wanted to.

It's great fun

These would be my recommendations for the UK. For wider afield, Lisbon, Granada or Seville but only Lisbon has a direct flight (Luton)

We have two month Interail passes to use in April and May and I doubt my wife will want to use hers as much as me. I'm really enjoying planning some solo European rail journeys calling in a cities I've always wanted to visit.

Funnily enough, I've just booked a few days in Bath next month.

Never been before. Any ideas for fun, gratefully received.

That's good to know. I fancy a trip to Lisbon or Seville.

Cardiff is lovely. Good trains, plenty of hotels, lots of history (museum and castle in the centre) Plus good shopping, food and entertainment. Also the bay area, but I haven't explored that yet.
