From my own experience, I'd a heart attack in 2001. From what I learnt afterwards, as family started to arrive, they too were told to expect any result, as it is always the first few hours that are the most difficult to predict.

But I was grateful to have family drop everything and travel from wherever they were in the UK to be at my bedside - that gave me reassurance and such a boost!

Go to the hospital, be with your family and support each other too.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thankyou thankyou thanyou everyone. Im just back as cant do anything else. Hes in a coma and they have lowered his body temperature. Its not looking good but if he can hold on the next 72 hours they will start to bring him out the coma, if he makes no sign of recovery then the doctor will talk to us. The biggest danger is him being brain damaged. I was in shock earlier. I also didnt know that because he and his wife arnt actually married(by law) im his next of kin.

Thankyou to everyone and especially those that offered lifts. You can always rely on people on herexxxxxxxx

I'm glad you went, especially as it would have been more of a shock if you were suddenly faced with having to make decisions not realising you are next of kin. Try and get some sleep tonight as the hard work will start when they bring your father out of the coma.

Having been through the dodgy ticker bit myself I hope I`m right in saying they do give him hope enough to put the stents in. Mum had a triple by-pass at the age of 80 and they said it wasn`t the age that was a factor but the life expectancy.

Fingers crossed for your Dad!

I can sympathise fully as I too have experienced a parent being very poorly over the Festive period (not that it is nice at any time of year).

Your mind will be all over the place until you get some light at the end of that tunnel.

I was forthwright and controlled on the surface and a jibbering wreck in private.

I wish you well and have my fingers (and toes) crossed that your Dad makes a full recovery x

I agree,I find it very strange that you're posting this on a swinging site, but as you say,you May be in shock. "

Not wanting to cause an argument or having a go but as the OP is a well loved member of the forums, and has given her fair share of support to many people over the short time I've been here, it's perfectly normal for her to post about it here.

Yes it's a swinging site, but it's more than that to a lot of people

In The Lounge you can discuss ANY subject - not just Swinging-related. Many members find it useful to offload their problems and anxieties in an anonymous forum like this and, if the responses help them get through it, long may it continue....

I have recently started training for a volenteer post with a listening organisation. It seems that people who share their worries and concernes (in what ever mode) seem to have reassurance and can look at their concerns with the help of others...........I think K is right to turn to those she counts as friends and I do hope her dad will be ok.

Karen has made some really great friends on here who accept her for who she is and we hope she gains support from it. In times like this it is really important that you have all the support you can get. We appreciate you see this as just a sex site but many of the rest of us have found wonderful supportive and non judgemental friends on here. People regularly post things on Facebook to keep friends informed ago why are you questioning this. Unfortunately it does tend to reassert the idea that many single fellas have absolutely no empathy.

Entirely agree with you. I had a mini-crisis in my personal life a little while ago, and a fellow fabster kept me going through her understanding and supportive emails. Don't know what I'd have done without her. Great people on here, all here with the obvious in mind but when things get tough the very same people are wonderful friends.

I think Karen did the right thing. This is a great site for help and support.Do you have to have met someone to give them a few kind words or some hope?

I for one find certain individuals on here to be negative and that's is why I do'nt post often but I always read posts. Its a shame that fear is there.

Good luck to your dad hunny and if we can help you get through it then we will.I for one will be going into hospital myself to have bladder removed and I will post on here for strength courage and it will keep me going at a time where strangers all unite. So well done fab.Do'nt let the minority spoil it.

Karen, as usual you have retained your dignity and humanity and offer all of us support as we try to offer you some.

I hope things look a little brighter this evening as the hospital prepares to bring your father from the medical coma. I am sure they would not have bothered to fit the stents if they thought there was no hope.

Thankyou again everyone, still know change, they are going to start bringing his temperature up at about 2am. Hopefully he will start to wake up and they will know whether there has been or how much brain damage there is. They cant commit anyway until theyve raised his temperature.

My son is going to sit with him tomorrow, thats what he wants to do.

Im not sure if you all realize just how overwhelmed i am by you all and if anyone has pmed me and i havent replied im truelly sorry, im trying to keep up with them all, it really is overwhelming.

I also hope that everyone else who is going through difficult time either being ill or has someone who is ill gets a positive outcomexxxkarenxxx

It is a really testing and scary time for relatives and it is a waiting game. The hospital will be doing all they can to give him the best possible care. The chances are he will come through this and be well again soon.

As for the posting about it on a sex site, well people deal with things in very different ways, we are all individuals and all of us have different coping mechanisms.

If you're in a house on your own and you want immediate human contact, then in this electronic age why not reach out to people who you spend regular time with, be that over the internet.

It doesn't make a difference whether this is a sex site or a caravan enthusiast site, all of us have things to offer other than our genitals and many will be kind, supportive and offer help, as has been shown on this thread.

People will often find it easier to talk to non family members about a crisis because there won't be the same level of grief and the advice/help will be objective rather than emotional.

I hope all is well very soon for your family Karen

Sadly we had the news this morning there is 99% that he wont wake up, it is only the ventilator keeping him alive. His organs are going. They are going to try and raise him out the coma tomorrow and if its the same reaction they are taking him for a head scan to confirm what they all ready know.

Its been a very difficult day bt i dont know how i got through it. Imseeing the doctor tomorrow afternoon

These things really are sent to try us Miss Mistletoe..there is nothing you can do now..its in the hands of others, accept that...ride it out and follow your emotions..dont think the worse or 'what ifs' etc..just let everything take its course..

Expect to be hurt, but dont wait for it, it will come, your brain will tell you how you need to feel at the time

You did get through the day, well done..and you will get through others..I know its difficult, but try to take strength from the fact that you have coped so far and you will cope again..no matter how much hurt and sadness you feel.

Take it nice and easy, day by day..Perhaps a part of you wants to give up hope and accept its over to ease the pressure on yourself..or maybe you want to cling onto some hope, as thats whats keeping you going...your brain will know whats best...just follow your heart..

IT WILL ALL BE FINE IN THE END NO MATTER WHAT THE OUTCOME..

little house on the praire

Not long back from the hospital. Hes still in a coma and the longer hes in it the worst it gets. They are giving him until the weekend if he hasnt woken up by then he will have a brain scan and then decisions will be made.

You lot have helped get me through the last few days
