What were you doing 10 years ago?

I'm sat musing on where 10 years have gone.

10 years ago today was my due date for my eldest child. As it happens he kept us waiting a little longer, but will have his birthday party this weekend.

I was the heaviest I've ever been in my life, unable to tie my own shoelaces, waddling along (my git of a husband even sang the oompah loompah song at me as I walked).

But apart from a couple more children not a lot has changed. Still in the same house, same employer (though been promoted since), still muddling along.

How has the last 10 years been for you? Do you know what you were up to 10 years ago?

Working at Sainsburys in London

This brings back lot sad memories but hear goes 10 December my wife was getting sicker by the day she wanted to be at home so took her out of hospice and took her home

Cared for her at home she passed away on 21 December work were good about it not employed with them anymore due to cutbacks

I think, if I’ve got my dates right, 10 years ago I was walking away from my first marriage and starting to build some actual self confidence. It was a revelation, at the time, to find out that there were gorgeous, intelligent women out there who actually fancied me. Me! Who knew?

So I was having the time of my life 10 years ago, in the lead up to the Christmas party season and newly single.

I was teaching a big career change from my last job. Also back studying at uni for my teaching degree.

Things then turned in the wrong direction, lost my mum went into depression lost my job. It was a down hill spiral. Lost a few other close relatives and friends. Got covid, suffer from long covid now.

But just take a day at a time now and grateful to be on a slow mend.

Don't take anything for granted now and enjoying my new grandkids the latest a beautiful granddaughter.

Sorry for putting a downer in the post.

I had a 'proper' job, was making plans to move in with Fox after meeting on here and had less pets.

Life has got better each year since.

Well according to Facebook memories I was freezing at my son’s horseriding lesson! The kids would have been 5, 7 and 8 and life was busy! It’s much more relaxed these days in terms of the kind of stress that having small children brings, but I went to my nephew’s nativity yesterday and felt a bit nostalgic for those days!

We’re still on the same smallholding but my middle son is virtually running the farm side now, he works three jobs (including one full time apprenticeship) so has his own money. The eldest is at college and the youngest in his last year at school.

Currently having issues with elderly parents as anybody who reads the mental health check-in thread will know, so not having those problems like 10 years ago, would be very welcome, but I know it’s just another life stage.

Ten years ago I worked part-time but I’m now in the second year of my MA training to be a counsellor. It’s nice to be doing something for myself at last! x

I was in my first year of 6th form and to be honest, I felt quite lost. I hated that it was essentially an extension of school, I felt unmotivated with the work and hated the pressure that it was all built up to deciding which Uni I would go to.

A lot of the people I was around weren't much better and was probably at my lowest in terms of self confidence that I carried a year or 2 after the fact.

Thank you hope we both get better soon I’m long covid as well four times altogether once in hospital on ventilator plus bullying at work by ex supervisor

So take every day as it comes

10 years ago..I feel in love with a lesbian. At the time she was Bisexual, seeing me and another girl at the same time. We both knew of each other. However, one day she cancelled our play date and said that it was over. She also said she’s fallen for the other lass and they were moving in together.

Along way sexually! Was celibate from 2004 till 2017! Only having experienced 2 sexual lovers b 4 that time ! First husband and second partner! In fact only 6 years ago had someone told me where I would b now I would have laughed my socks of! But must say am very happy for the last 6 years! I'd not long moved to Hertfordshire from London. I was in a relationship where I was blissfully happy and ignorant to my partners toxic traits not least that she had convinced me to move from London and get a flat with her because she needed to move out of her current place but was simultaneously planning on leaving me. Weirdly moving to Hertfordshire was the best thing I ever did so I definitely got the last laugh

I'd been 6 months in the job that almost killed me this year bit loved it at that time and thought I'd found my calling.

Oh and I'd not long started running, which went on to change my life dramatically.

I was travelling around australia and new zealand, which was interesting.

I was pursuing relationships that I should have not though, which wasn't good... Less wise than I am now.
