little house on the praire

I've spent many a Christmas alone when my son was a child I would alternative Christmas day with his dad.

Last Christmas I spent in hospital and I couldn't have visitors.

It's not so bad being on your own get some nice food and drink in. You could always try for a social meet with someone in the same position as you

Spent Christmas day alone for last 4 years, and actually due to the hectic build up it was very nice to have a day of peace...this year I have my eldest home

I'm always alone at Christmas since my divorce. Friends invite me, but it doesn't feel right so I keep to myself. Give yourself treats. Make it special for yourself.

I spend it alone most years. Tell yourself it's just another day but make yourself a Christmas dinner & enjoy it.

I’ve been alone this passed few years due to family issues, I try to say it dosent bother me each year but i always have a cry at some point only thing that keeps me going is the thought that I’m on call with emergency service so I could have to go out with them

I’m always alone at Xmas these days, you can either wallow in it, live it up by yourself, forget about it or do something to help others.

I will be alone just after lunch time

I hate it and on previous years I just get totally wankered on wine and port

I love just having a very quiet day. Read, listen to music, sleep. It doesn't have to be special if you don't want it to, and if you treat it as just another day off, you don't have to feel like you're missing out.

Dear OP, you won't be alone. We're all here and I'll be trawling the Fab Airwaves on Christmas Day, popping in / popping out to say hello and offering the warmest of yuletide felicitations.

I have, and this year. I have a lovely lie in. FaceTime with a few friends. Cook an epic roast. Watch Die Hard, masturbate and get pissed. I Avoid social media like the plague.

It would be great to have a Christmas Day orgy some time.

I'd love a Christmas alone ! Long walk, quick dinner, big brandy and a couple of films in peace. Bliss.

Due to circumstances I’ve often had xmas alone, but only the day itself usually.

As has been said either wallow in it or make the most of it.

When I split with an ex one year I went and stayed at my sisters for Christmas whilst she went away.

I made myself a mini Christmas dinner and I watched back to back films.

You can make it morbid or woe is me or you can see it as just any other day you spend without anyone.

During lockdown I went to work as had a little gym/ circuit set up. No one else there obviously.

Podcast on and did about 3 hours training. Bit chilly but got some solid results , wish the gym was open over xmas

Did you eat him all on Christmas day or freeze bits for later?

Not all that North of North London

I've volunteered and would recommend it.

These days I happily spend it alone, weather permitting I'll go out walking or cycling, I'll have a new book to enjoy and a lot of nice foods in. Tend to avoid Christmas TV and much of social media.

I love getting any time to myself.

I make no exceptions for Christmas Day. I am not Christian so feel no need to celebrate the day as a Christian holy day.

I kind of get the mid winter festival idea… s way to lift spirits and celebrate the return of the sun and the regrowth of life. And I am not a downer on people having a good time, but crumbs!

It is always nice to have time to be alone!

I don’t spend every Christmas on my own but I have done it a few times and hsvee Ed loved it

I've been on my own for most of them in my life. This year Small is even completely forsaking me til the 27th so I'm doing something I've threatened to do for years I'm helping do homeless Christmas dinners

I spent a Christmas on my own after leaving my ex.

Once you get past the idea of it being a sad and lonely thing, you appreciate the peace and pure delight of a tranquil day to treat exactly as you like.

I didn't do anything Christmassy and I smiled a lot during my different day, doing exactly as I pleased.

I spent it alone in 2020 and actually enjoyed it. Last year was with family and it was horrendous. This year I've made the choice to spend it alone in my own home x

If I was ever to be alone on Christmas Day I would cook a small turkey crown while I listen to Christmas songs. Buy crackers; cheeses; pates; pickled red cabbage; silverskin onions etc etc and have a day long picnic on my sofa as I watch Christmas films. Bottle of Baileys, Christmas pudding and custard, and special chocolates for the evening to indulge in while I watch more Christmas films.

Boxing Day I'd go for a long walk to walk off some of the calories and have a prawn cocktail salad with more turkey for dinner.

If I knew of someone else alone I'd invite them round or phone them for a chit chat.

I've had several Christmases alone and this year will be the same. I have ME and have epileptic types of seizures. Had my longest one last Christmas Day when I was unusually with family and it took over a week of resting to recover from it. I spend so much time on my own that I got sensory overload and my body couldn't cope.

I plan to treat it like a normal day. I'm not religious, don't have children and won't spend excess money for the day just because society says we should.

Definitely volunteer mate. I had a few after a divorce and didn’t do anything, then met someone who had the same situation and said it was really positive.

Beds (or anywhere beginning with B..!?)

You can be surrounded by a multitude of people and still be alone ... as comments above I think just make it what you want it to be ...it is just another day in the year after all, right?

What ever you do OP...don't be disheartened by it, if possible.

Have a look around, maybe there are others in the same boat who offer something. I know there must be lots of folk in the same boat.

What ever happens...happy Christmas and good luck for the New Year x

I think that’s good wording and what we say is important. It is just another day. Christmas can be hard, think of it like taking a sickie and you can claim back a day to do what you want. X

I have spent Christmas alone since my wife passed away. Yes very difficult as normally had family staying over holiday time. I cooked both Christmas day and Boxing day meals. Most cooked for was ten people. All now passed away

I will be cooking again for myself meals Christmas and Boxing days .

It is a time of year for some that is not good. I hope though for others to enjoy with family and friends

Newry Down

For me, Christmas is just like any other day except that public transport and shops are closed, so I am obliged to adjust my busy routine.

Lie in bed late, catch up on household chores, eat my Christmas fare and get onto fab for the evening and plan ahead for the new year!

Change is hard. Sometimes things blind side us on a random day, they are massive and unfair. It’s what we do after that changes us for the good of ourselves. It’s so tough. It takes time to process changes and you should allow time and be kind to yourself mate. I found walking very good, when you’re feeling down. Doesn’t matter for how long, just get out and walk x

Thank you for reply. I enjoyed cooking , although very tiring . Ensuring food correct. Yes I can cook well. Do miss social of people in house , staying. Now empty house as only me and yes as older very difficult to meet new people etc.
