Anything can be a Christmas movie if you associate it with Christmas. Hence Flash Gordon and The Eagle has Landed are for me

It has Christmas music, its set at Christmas, it has (fake) snow, it has a family reunited on Christmas day...

It's 100% a Christmas movie. With guns

It's a story of good over evil.

And how hot Bruce looks in a white vest.

Do you know anything about Flemish art? We are talking Breugel and Rubens here.

I'll concentrate on the two Peter Breugels (younger and elder). The names are spelt differently, but that's a anglification of things.

"According to St Matthew’s Gospel, after hearing from the wise men of the birth of Jesus, King Herod ordered that all children in Bethlehem under the age of two be murdered. Bruegel set the story as a contemporary Flemish atrocity so that the soldiers wear the distinctive clothing of the Spanish army and their German mercenaries.

The artist also drew upon his experience of the exceptionally severe winter of 1564-5 to describe a village covered in snow, with icicles hanging from the rooftops and the pond in the foreground thickly frozen over.

Bruegel’s Massacre of the Innocents was a popular image, repeated numerous times mainly by the artist and by his son, Pieter Brueghel the Younger."

Violence is a key feature of the bible.

It's a bit like "who shot JFK" you're always going to get a divided opinion. But does setting a film at Xmas time make the film a xmas film?

No.

A Christmas movie is a movie where the narrative is based around Christmas.

Die Hard is a movie that just happens to have Christmas time as a backdrop.

Might be but it also gives strange folk ideas to ruin Christmas for everyone. Should be a period of togetherness and embraced regardless of colour and gender
