What moments in life gave you the worst heartbreak?

The worst heartbreak used to be when my first ex cheated on me and dumped me for a guy twice her age back in 2006 but now, I known that the worst heartbreak I've ever felt was when my last ex, who I had known since secondary school and was my best friend at the time, dumped me by text and cut ties with me just days before Christmas back in 2016.

A lesson I've always kept in mind. That and long distance relationships along with relationships with best friends don't work.

Two for me...

Turning up for my first ultrasound to find baby was no longer there, no symptoms of miscarriage whatsoever.

Being told I was fat, ugly and useless and noone in this world would ever want me, took me a long time to find myself and realise he got that wrong

Between 1983 and 1988 I lost both maternal grandparents whom I had been caring for since I was 12 years old, two uncles(one of whom was also my godfather), and an aunt and two cousins(one a week before his 30th birthday). Therefore by the time my dad passed away a week before my 22nd birthday I was completely numb to death and loss.

That whole period was just one long heartbreak.

But remembering the past helps us not making mistakes in the future and it also prepares us to understand and cope with future heartbreak.

Two incidents stick put as real heartbreak.

1. When my partner of 8 years walked out and told me by text she no longer loved me.

2. When my Gran died. She lived with us and was more like a mum. Plus it happened on my 21st so I was a bit emotional.

No, you don't. When you have to live with that negative change every single day, for the rest of your life, you do not and cannot forget. It depends entirely on the person and what they have experienced.

When I got a call to say my sister in law had passed, it was like a physical pain in my heart, like someone had put a knife through it. Repeated far too often with other friends that have passed.

Relationship wise... Realising someone wasn't the person you thought they were, also numerous times, but easier to get over.

Another heartbreak I felt was when I found out a friend who I used to date over 10 years ago but kept in touch with over the years died last month. I felt so numb that day and I wept a couple of days later.

I then took comfort that she didn't suffer and will be watching over her family. Even though my friend is gone, the good times we chatted on Facebook I will always remember and cherish.

My partner breaking up with me during lockdown was a total shock, I just didn't see it coming. I was broken and to make matters worse his true colours and nastiness came out afterwards in his abusive and threatening messages. It took a long time to get over it.

Aside from that, my dad's health failing every day is more heart breaking than anything else

My dad dying was one of my worst heartbreaks. I had never lost someone before so it was a bit of a shock and seeing him deteriorate wasn't nice.

When my daughter was born she was quite sick, and I'll never forget how I felt watching her scream and not being able to do anything when she was pinned down so they could do a lumbar puncture. I feel sick just thinking about it. I'm just thankful she was OK. Nothing worse in this world than seeing your child in pain.
