Not many people owned a TV. They used to 'rent' them. There was a box on the back that you put a sixpence in. A man used to come round to empty it and if there was more than the rental amount in, you got the excess back. Our family used to decide together what treat to spend it on.. we got so excited when 'Telly man day' came around

We used to get dressed up for the cinema, and queue outside for hours. Dogs used to wander around the streets and if you had a fight, it was fists and feet. The corner shop gave your Mam credit and you could get her fags for her, even though you were only 7 and pop came in glass bottles that you returned for your deposit back......

We did not have central heating. Just a fire in the front room. In winter there would be ice on the inside of the window ( not double glazing)..

Going to school in winter time with no heating on in the building being told put a coat on

Being sent to the shops for a few bits and that includes buy your dad cigarettes no questions asked for age

The local coal man

The local milkman

Health and safety well that actually had sense

And my favourite one
