"Reports from the Wirral which is an upmarket area of Liverpool that a charity shop worker stole a few thousand pounds from a charity shop to send to her fake overseas scam boyfriend. She was found guilty and sacked. She is a victim too. Very sad says Tom." Would have been cheaper to just sign up to Fab and find one on here. A

And depending on the sector they'll either brush it under the carpet or make a very clear stand. And people won't give to a charity shop who turn a blind eye to their employees stealing. I

"Yes she is a victim too. It's incredibly sad. Her life now has a huge question mark over it as does her future and job prospects. Have you heard some of the lies and manipulative hoaxes these vile creatures lay down? They lay foundations over time and lead others into believing its the only way they can save the "true loves" life in many cases. Much like the one in this country where one geezer fooled 4 people into believing their lives were in danger as he was a MI5 agent and they had to pay him for safe housing and new identities etc. This went on for 5 years with one of the women and she had very little to no contact with her family during that time as she genuinely believed it would put her family at risk. Her dad spent years trying to track her down travelling the length and breadth of the country. He scammed hundreds upon hundreds of thousands out of them. " The documentary of the MI5 impersonator is called "the puppet master" on Netflix. Definitely worth a watch amd can give you insight into how they manipulate people into behaving completely against their character and morals.

"Sorry to sound insensitive, but I find it hard to believe that grown adults still fall for these types of scams. Even after the so-called "romance" blossoms, warning bells should sound immediately at the first mention of money. Three words - fool, money, parted." Unfortunately when people are lonely and vulnerable they don’t think with their head, they think with their heart.

Even after the so-called "romance" blossoms, warning bells should sound immediately at the first mention of money. Three words - fool, money, parted." Unfortunately scammers tend to home in on people who are vulnerable. Your words may seem obvious when viewed at a distance from the situation but if it was truly that simplistic then there would be no scamming industry, it is however a multimillion pound business.

It’s the same as the older women usually pensioners who go abroad and within a week they have met their true love a twenty something that can’t speak a word of English . Before they know it they have spent their life savings paying for operations and god knows what other bullshit .

Agreed 100%" I tend to agree with the adage above but when listening to woman’s hour the other day I couldn’t help feel sympathy for a lady duped by what turned out to be a gang of professional scammers. She was of reasonable intelligence but lonely and was the victim of a highly intelligent team who manipulated her into giving her house to them. Clearly she was conned by the advances of a young handsome chap who she met on a dating site and lost control. Very sad.

"I can't ever imagine me sending money overseas to someone I've never met. I hate giving money to people I know, let alone a stranger?" I get pissed off if I lose out on a quid on a scratchcard, so probably not the demographic scam artists are seeking... I kinda get it though? If folk are lonely, low mental health, feeling at a bit of a loss with connecting within society? It all builds to being open to someone taking advantage sadly
