Read the seventy squillion other threads asking this question. No one is under any obligation to reply to anyone else.

Do you ring up every company that sends you junk mail to say ‘no thanks’?

If your messages are as uninspired as your profile…

I delete messages when I’m not interested. I get loads during the day. It’s tiresome to reply to all of them.

Delete your sent messages then you won't be bothered about if they are read or not.

And even though I don't get many messages I gave up answering them all a long time ago. Because I can't be bothered opening lines of communication with them.

I know it can be frustrating, but take into consideration that some people...usually women or couples..can get anything from 50 to a 100 messages a day!!!

Then remember some of them have been on here for quite a few years

And as others have said, it also depends on the context of the message.

As a single male, the odds are stacked against you.

Its a fair assumption to say that single guys probably outnumber women by about 50-1.

Its a buyers market, so to speak.

Just keep going. Dont give up.

Make an effort. Try to be original. Be polite and respectful.

Read peoples profiles and requirements.

Dont be pushy.

And take no reply as a 'thanks but no thanks'

We don't get very many messages. Less than 30 in total since setting up this profile.

We normally reply to every message even just to say thanks but no thanks or to draw their attention to where it says we are unable to meet at the moment.

If we don't reply to a message it's because it's from someone who clearly hasn't taken the time to read a single word of the profile.

An example being a one line message from a single male account telling us to get in touch if we were ever in their area which happens to be at the opposite end of the country and accompanied by a few pics of a couple.

No reply is a reply, it's a no thank you.

We do tend to reply to messages but can sometimes get bombarded with more because we've said no, especially single males when it's clear we don't meet men.

People have jobs and lives. They shouldn't be expected to come home, make dinner, and say no thank you to the 100s of messages they got in the day, assuming you're messaging fun/hot women and couples.

Just move on!

Women get 100s of messages to reply to every message they'd need to have a full time assistant, which is why the FAQs suggest that no reply means not interested

Picture the scene (especially if a new photo has gone up)...

Woman logs into fab after a day at work, sees there is 150/300 messages in her in box, sees the calibre of messages and then decides on which ones she wants to reply too, is she going to reply to the "hi" or "how's you" messages? No, is she going to reply to messages that clearly habent read her profile? No.

In short, we get a ton of messages and while it would be nice to respond to all, the simple fact is, we don't have too, says in the FAQs take it as a "no" and move on.

We get lots of "hey how are you" type of messages which we largely egnore. If men take the time to compose a decent message, we look at their profile and if we think we won't click we send a short "thanks, but no thanks" reply. About 50% of the time, they come straight back with a "oh please why" sort of thing which can then lead to some unplesantness. They think as we've replied once there is hope. For example 1 guy send us 12 messages after we had said a polite "sorry your profile is all wrong for us" we had to block him, not something we like to do.

It's a difficult one ultimately. Men on here are expected to do all the running, which is probably a big part of why women have so many messages, making it hard to reply to all, even with the best will in the world. As others have said there have been many, MANY threads in the forums discussing this over the years. Even raising the subject will result in bringing out a combination of realistic and reasonable responses, but will also open you up to pompous, entitled types who will (without knowing a thing about you) think they're being superior and clever by using it as a stick to beat you with, particularly the forum 'royalty' and people with inflated egos. You'll also get other male 'chancers' who regularly use it as an opportunity to show their own self-imposed 'superiority', attempting to impress women in doing so.

Bottom line is this kind of post rarely ends well as it immediately triggers accusations of being 'whiny' as its one of the most common complaints on Fab and can in itself easily come across in isolation as entitled to some. With the best will in the world AND the greatest of effort the odds are against you. Women will sometimes get a hundred messages a day. On a consistent basis that makes it impractical to respond to all. It's easy to take it to heart when you get silence coming back in your direction, but there IS a solution. Stop wasting your time sending messages, which will stop the negative feelings when you get that silence in return, but use the forums to check out socials and club events that suit your preferences. Go along and expect nothing more than a great social evening and take a few visits to allow people to get to know YOU as an individual. You may not get chance to play, but don't give up and enjoy the vibe. Be friendly, but not pushy and things will just tend to happen. I'm a VERY ordinary single guy, but I'm now pretty successful simply because people know who I am and how I behave. Just be conversational and patient. All the guys who regularly go to the same events I do are the same. Just stop messaging on here for the most part and only send out the odd one or two messages hete and there, where the person really stands out for you, then deleteit your end and forget you ever sent it. Be a high value guy and not look at it as a case of sending out loads of messages in the hope that someone will say yes based on 'averages'.

Good luck!

Because if we apply a filter to block incoming messages from men (something we do when we're really busy!) then anyone we've replied to can still message us.

But then if we know we'll never be interested in a profile we just block it anyway. The block button is a great permanent filter.

But I assume we'll be seen as 'rude'by some for doing that.......

We get messages from a lot of people who have clearly not gone to the effort of reading our profile, so why should we feel obliged to have to write a reply? Simply deleting the message is a form of reply.

I'm in a private Kik group with a few other Fab members and we chat about stuff, one of the girls clears her inbox every day and posted a quick screenshot from 9am and it had over 200 messages. If she gave even a polite "thank you" to everyone she would be updating Fab 28 hours a day. Be thankful your a man and only have to reply to less than 20.

Good luck!

This is very sound advise x"

Thank you! xx

I don't reply if the sender asks something they can find out from my profile, or if they immediately ask if I have (enter alternative messaging system here), or if they're clearly challenged by the concept of writing.

If we reply "no thanks" the website thinks that because we messaged we are happy to chat. So if I then block all men in the future, the ones I said "no" to can still message as the filter doesn't work. So that's wasting time for you and me.

No reply... message filters still work.

Still not ironical if the men messaging don’t appeal to them for whatever reason or don’t fit what they are looking for.

People keeps forgetting no one owes anything to anyone in this site. You being a single man in this site and finding a partner into swinging/kink means you’ve done something right, probably starting with not being self entitled

Yep.

When I was was on here as a single guy years back I ignored messages from couples and women, just as we do now.

Nobody - male, female or couple - has to reply to anyone.

Hey their are many reasons why people don't reply, your profile, your pics, your look, your location, maybe they're not meeting, maybe they're not meeting single guys, maybe they're not meeting your age group, maybe you have a beard, maybe you have a bush down below, it all boils down to time constraints they have maybe 60 messages and only two of them are suitable so they reply to them and leave the other 58 as saying not interested 58 times a day gets a little boring, some do however say no thanks

Read the seventy squillion other threads asking this question. No one is under any obligation to reply to anyone else.

Do you ring up every company that sends you junk mail to say ‘no thanks’?"

This!

Also many of us then get follow up messages of abuse for having the cheek to have personal preference.

Is it not good manners to read the FAQs of a site you sign up to so you understand how things work? Or do you think your time is more important?

Also I assume you answer every call you get even when the caller is withheld or from a company you know full well you don't want any dealings with?

If I take my filters off I can get 100 messages.

You want me to take up my own time on here replying to them all?

Which then prompts replies from them, whilst other messages continue to come in?

No, sorry, but my time on here is for me, not to please others.

Plus then they can forever bypass my filters

"Just wondering why I understand people are busy but if you have the time to read a message is it to much trouble to say no thanks if your not interested ???????"

1. With an open profile and our pics public, we’ll hit 200 messages an hour. Not wasting time replying to that

2.despite being clear on our profile, people that don’t fit the bill try casting their net anyway, wasting our time eg. Not meeting at the moment, we still get messages that just say “you looking for now?”

3.we do this for our fun, not yours and wasting time replying to crap profiles with a picture of a leg or copy and pasted messages is not fun

4. Read the site FAQs. No response, is considered a no thanks. If you read this, then why are you griping?

5. Congrats on being one of 5 people to post this daily

6. Suck it up, Buttercup

I am just amazed how people take this environment so seriously!

Is recreational sex, swinging or hooking up (whatever you label it) supposed to be good fun and enjoyable?

Us single chaps need to know and understand the statistical make up of the site and set their expectations in view of that.

Fab boasts 200,000 members of which 190,000 are single Pringles stood on the edge of the dance floor at 2am trying to entice those in the minority dancing around their handbags just bathing in the choice they have.

That said if any gorgeous ladies or couples who are seeking the more mature dance floor edge bloke who will shortly be drawing his state pension look no further! I can promise a Berni Inn steak dinner glass or two of Blue Nun and riveting conversation.

If of course my mailbox explodes I will reply to all.

Yes op for some it is too much trouble ,as they get so many messages a day (not me I use filters ).

Why should we all reply to everyone , especially when most can't be arsed reading a profile or actually looking at what we want.

I always reply to a well written message or profile ,I don't respond to u free now , wuu2,I'm in a hotel nearby etc .

A no reply is a no thanks op,delete your sent messages and then any reply is a bonus .

Imagine the Op now coming back on and replying to every single comment on this thread. Also the replies to his reply.

Then you may get an idea of what some women go through.

It’s not rude it’s just facts, if this place isn’t fun, more admin work, then those very few women on the site, will leave.

I've you picture this somewhere that's not fab for example let's talk about the popular fiery dating app

If every time you swiped it automatically sent a "hi how's you" type message, how likely is it that someone will swipe back and say "I'm fine thanks, but I'm not interested etc"

Now I'm not saying everyone does this but I've seen people who just swipe right on every woman on that app. And you get what? 50 swipes a day? If 1 woman has been past say 80 people in a small town or thousands in a city, that's a lot of people to say "no thank you" to, then you get the people who say "but why?"

Or who get aggressive saying "you're not even that good looking" or "why are you so full of yourself" etc

It would take a lot of women an entire day to reply to everyone. Or would need a personal pm monitor

I don't envy women on these sorts of sites

(Although the occasional message would be nice )

Mainly we are here for our enjoyment. So we are really bad at the admin side of things (even with people we know and have met). We like to do messages together but can't always be together so when we are together we have better things to do than go through all the messages together. I don't see why someone who's sent an unsolicited message is entitled to a reply? As we likewise dont feel entitled to a reply should we send an unsolicited message. We generally do all our interacting on the scene at clubs and parties anyways. So fab isn't generally a tool we use for meeting new people anyway. So we tend just let the admin slide because we haven't got the energy for it. However there's always a few messages that are the exceptions

It's a reply , just like I'm replying to your comment. It's called common descentsy! Maybe some people don't have any! I never expect a reply… if I send a message it’s always to someone who I’m particularly interested in speaking with, and I’ve made sure I’ve checked I fit any criteria they ask for (age/location/size/ethnicity/facial hair/sexuality etc)

If they delete without reading, or looking at my profile, fair enough, move on

If I get a reply, it’s a bonus

Life’s too short to get wound up over little things, and we all (hopefully) have enough going on in our lives to distract us from what goes on here

"I think if a message has been read and not replied to it's safe to assume that is a 'no thanks '.

"

More often that not it’s true, although I have been pleasantly surprised out of the blue when I’ve had a reply a couple of weeks after a message had been read (I delete all sent messages once they’re read, so I’m not tempted to keep looking at my outbox and obsess over who’s not replied!)

The message system is for the people who like to send one liners, unfathomable gibberish or fake nonsense for pretend meets, Its a vital service for those people and often is part of their release. Although it can also be useful to the unknow ledged or those who get their kicks from masturbating while joining in on the fantasy, enhanced by feelings of angst and annoyance. . Its built on the basic principle of the internet. It's not for real info. or any form of communication. How often do you see a not saying " please respond2 on an incoming message.?

I get a crazy amount of messages in a day. Views to my profile can be a couple of thousand. Most have not read my profile or have and decide to message anyway. Occasionally I'll reply with a no thanks but it usually turns into a pity party or a really abusive message. I would literally need a PA to reply to all the messages. I have filters and it is still mental on here

No. It’s 100 messages off different men.

"Just wondering why I understand people are busy but if you have the time to read a message is it to much trouble to say no thanks if your not interested ???????"

Honestly as a woman, I've got like 100 unreplied messages in my inbox.

I do eventually read and reply to them all but in my case, Those who live nearby go and want to meet within 7 days go to the front of the queue.

I put in my status how many messages I have.

If you are not a patient person, Fab really isn't for you and quick meets, regardless of gender or orientation.

TBH 95% of the men can't accept no thanks and continually try to plead their case X 1000 ..its frustrating

Lets not count the ones that carry on conversations with themselves because you haven't responded within 5-10mins to their last response .

Would make it way easier if it was mandatory to complete the messaging filter so people don't get bombarded with messages from people they're not interested in.

Would make dudes feel less shit for not getting a reply and make girls time easier as they're not getting 1000s messages a day. Then when you do a have a little vibe your messages don't get lost. Win win

"No reply is a reply, it's a no thank you.

We do tend to reply to messages but can sometimes get bombarded with more because we've said no, especially single males when it's clear we don't meet men."

Try changing your message filters so men can't message you if you really don't want to hear from them. Saves them wasting their time too.

I switch them back on occasionally when I'm really in the mood for... a full day of fab admin

I don't know if I'm getting any messages at all. My message box is not working and I've had to double message people because messages keep on being deleted and messages from SIX YEARS ago keep popping into my account.

I've posted on the something's gone wrong forum and never received a response.

I am resigned to the fact I've got a broken message system... Sigh...

Apologies to all those people who think I've ignored them. I haven't. Your message was probably deleted before I could read it.
