Just wanna send the biggest hug to anyone else struggling with their anxiety right now. I've finally put my mental health advocacy into practice this year, raising hundreds for the Samaritans as well as becoming a Mind campaigner. Oh and have a MHFA course coming up this month.

I feel like a fraud and a joke when my own mental illnesses rear their ugly head though - Xeno

You are in no way a fraud, you are helping others the same way that you may need it yourself sometimes you should be praising yourself when you feel good enough to help ! (I have experience in a very similar way)

What a brave and excellent thing, to use your own struggles as a spur to help others. Thank you.

Why does it make you a fraud, surely as a sufferer you’re best placed to understand?

I honestly believe that with most difficult things in life people have no idea what you’re going through unless they’ve been there themselves. Good on you .

I took a wellness day yesterday (cause my boss is a bitch)

And she whatsapped me a few times.

Be kind to yourself

Nice thoughts from others do help .. been suffering with MH issues for over 2 years now and find difficult to talk .. but reading stuff eases me ..

Type of person who has a comical and friendly attitude when in company, but when alone it's another story .. received your hug wholeheartedly

A fraud?

Nope.

That's first hand experience and negativity transformed into something positive.

There's nothing fraudulent about that at all.

Helping others isn't about reaching perfection of one's self first.

Gateway to the Beacons

We all mental health like physical health

We don’t say I am a broken arm etc

It doesn’t define us and the bravest are the ones who talk about it and help raise awareness

You are definitely it a fraud

No better help than someone who understands those emotions themselves. My first thought was that you're the perfect person to be doing it! Hopefully it has the added benefit of making you feel good about you too! Doing things for others - and the positive emotions that come with it - is the greatest sense of achievement. If you want to feel good about you 'Help other people' is the message. Bravo you!!! x

Honestly, my mental helth is horrendous and I started speaking out about a lot this year and the best outcome of that is that si many friends started talking to me because they know i get it.

Similarly, I was working with a charity earlier this year after a suicide attempt and all the counsellors had been through the sane thing and fucking hell I can't begin to explain how cathartic that was, knowing that they understood those thoughts and emotions.

Definitely not a fraud. And well done for all you do

Absolutely blown away by all these super kind comments, I was not intending to blow my own trumpet!!

I previously trained as a Samaritan speaking volunteer (the folks that answer the phone) but I found it too much at the time - maybe in the future I can give it another go!!

Thank you all so much

Well done, that’s amazing!

Definitely not a fraud, I suffer and I’m training to be a counsellor. Like was mentioned above, most people come into this work because they’ve been there themselves and so recognise the real value in helping others who may be suffering x

Massive hugs to everyone that struggles. My MH is in shambles as well OP, still I’m an advocate for MH in my work place. Also in the worst downfall of my MH I started volunteering for the Red Cross in my home country and found incredibly cathartic to be able to help others when I thought I was useless.

You’re doing amazing work and I’m nothing but grateful for people like you.

First of all your no fraud it's a huge step to put yourself out there

I've suffered with anxiety since I was 20,had some serious lows ,I tend to hide behind humour, though I don't always fool everyone that I'm doing fine

Here's to a happy days ahead x

Well done you. You should be very proud of yourself.

Regardless of you struggling with anxiety at times you understand what other people are going through.

I went through a very dark period in my early twenties but came out of it a much happier and better person.

All I would say is try and follow my grandma’s mantra. ‘Worrying solves nothing’ She said ‘be positive, happiness is a state of mind’. It’s worked for me!

Fabulous for you, a real achievement- and offering you more understanding of your conditions (I can't even get a Dr's appointment to talk about my issues atm) Take care and keep on keeping on xx
