There's a lot of strife in this country at the moment, racial strife, class strife. There's one thing really that we have in common, one thing that unites us. And what is it???

It's not class or ideology

Colour creed or roots

The only thing that unites us

Is Doctor Martens boots

Oi!

Love a man in a pair of DR Martens. Nice pair of 8 hole ox bloods or standard black.

I must own over 20 pairs and have been into them since the age of 10.

They're great with camo combats, baggy vintage jeans and a nice long flowery tea dress.

Anyone else loving the boot or do you have other iconic fashion item fetishes?

They used to be huge when I was a kiddie (in popularity, not size ) but seem a bit more niche now aren’t they?

Or am I just a fashion dinosaur!?

I love the look, but I don't think I can pull it off myself

I like them but very expensive now, and the quality is worse than when they were made in the UK.

I only buy second hand ones, all ready broke in. Way too expensive to buy new.

They have every style of DM now. I prefer the classic boots.

I should have a look. I lived in them as a teenager.

Not all that North of North London

O have a very battered and very loved pair of 12 hole oxbloods, they look brilliant with my kilt!

Also got a beautiful pair of oxblood mohair brothel creepers, they're quite unusual!

North West

I have several pairs, including the black "standard" boots that I've owned since I was 14. They're still going strong.

I've also got various styles of shoe from DM too. I love 'em!

I'm so jealous of those of you that have had pairs that last for years. I am the dark angel where DMs go to die. I've easily had over 100 pairs in my life. As a kid I used to nick them from building sites. I looked like a comic book character in these man sized boots.

I have worn the DM shoes, never liked the boots. As a kid with size 11/12 feet, they looked big and cumbersome.

British Heart Foundation has an eBay site and I see DMs on there fairly regularly.
