hiding from cock pics.

I'm having a little look for somewhere I could possibly take the kids for a week maybe at the of November/ beginning of December for a bit of sun.

I'm looking for somewhere that would be warm enough to relax on the beach and swim in the sea, and less than 5 1/2 hours from the UK. All the places I have found seem to have very early sunsets, I guess that's what you live in the Northern hemisphere.

I'd really like somewhere that the sun isn't set by 6:30 as I imagine it starts getting cold a little earlier them when the sun has actually set and it makes the days very short. And I looking for the impossible?

So far I have looked at Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Spain and the canaries. Has anybody got any suggestions?

"Canaries is your best bet I guess for europe"

Thank you, I did look at the Canaries although I thought they had a high temperature of 21 in December which I thought might be a bit cold for the beach.

I will look into it a little bit more though, as they do have a late sunset which means nice long days.

Thanks

If you are willing for up to 6 hours Cape Verde is an option. The average temperature in December time is 21 to 27?

abruzzo Italy (and UK)

I’ve been to Sharm in Egypt in late November before and it was really warm, the sea was plenty warm enough to swim in and the snorkelling was great.

Egypt, although it's dark before 6.30pm. We regularly visit Hurghada. Due out in a couple of weeks again. Lovely and warm in the day. If you would like any hotel suggestions feel free to message me. Hope you find what you are looking for

Try Morocco.

Marrakech would be warmer but Agadir has a great coastal resort feel but stays misty into mid morning

Sun may set too early

I been in Agadir at this part of year:

Temp : 25 all day long

Water 21 degrees all day long . Perfect

Can stay in water literally all day long .

Execeltent food in hotel .

Was lux .

Lovely breakfast n bar in beach . Perfect lux .

Negative part :

Out of season , litter and rubbish everywhere

Was very dirty .

A heart brake

Decay in general . And scary road users .

But if u don’t bother with that u be fine .

Cafes and restaurants not any cheaper then in

Europe . Beer everywhere .

Swimming pool full of elderly ppl . For me perfect . dead quiet .

For kids : extremelly boring .

Good cheap deal in TUI .

Tenerife is about same north line ish . I think I would rather try there . Check temperatures .

I wouldn’t go any north then Tenerife .

I’m Portuguese . And even Spain or Portugal will be chilled to beach . Good enough to go out n about .

But as well , can be as bad as in UK at this time of year

Pershore

Has a Winter 'snowbird' I'd say the only reliable short(ish) haul destination to guaranteed sun is the Canary Islands which are almost on the Tropic of Cancer. Hire a car and venture into the interior - very underrated.

"Bognor Regis is good"

I was there a few weeks ago!

Some really brilliant suggestions and the one that seems most suitable for what I'm looking for is Agadir.

I'm currently looking into desert quad trips as that sounds like a lot of fun.

The hotel I like, (and from TripAdvisor has great reviews), is the Riu Tikida Dunas, although I'm still researching at the moment.

Not too sure the age of your kids but we have been swimming over New Year in Lanzarote and the place doesn't close down so good to entertain kids of any age, even petulant teenagers !!

We are off to Canaries mid November to mid December and expect to be in the sea most days. Its generally not the temperature that keeps you off the beach, it's the breeze.

Wherever you decide, hope you all have a great time.

North West

We spent two weeks over last Christmas and New Year in Tenerife and doing the same again this year. We had one day when it rained, one threatened night time storm that didn't materialise and around 25-26°C every single day, with the occasional day nearer 30°C. We've since been told it was considered a cooler than normal period, in 2021.

We had an absolute blast, hence going again this year.

I've just come back from morrocco and spent a few days in Agadir and loved it despite our hotel not being the best as it was next to a nightclub!

But some of the beach front ones looked absolutely lovely (but outside our budget) and the town is brilliant.

But I'm not sure how warm it is, it was only in the low 20s last month despite it being 30+ elsewhere in the country and it definitely drops dark and quite chilly fairly early

You went on holiday to the Gambia? In West Africa?? I sponsor a child in the Gambia... I was under the impression it's one of the poorest nations on earth. Not being funny but do some serious research before turning up with a suitcase and a kiss-me-quick sunhat in the Gambia mate

I went on holiday last December to the Gambia with Tui. A 4* all inclusive package. The locals are delighted at the income and employment tourists bring to their country.

It is one of the poorest nations on earth but maybe do some research on how and why tourism fits in to its economy and society?

It's a beautiful country with amazing people and well worth visiting
