Or do you prefer balance without the highs and lows that follow

If option 1 where do you find you happiness hit

In a town full of colours

I get bored with the balance and search out the fun high occasionally

Otherwise I'd eat to get that feeling

Enjoy the highs, lean in and grow through the lows. That’s living.

I only do things that make me happy... I even rather like my job... I avoid taking on any extra stresses, work or otherwise... I am honest, put up with nobody elses shit and I only concern myself with the people I love... I am the happiest I have ever been... Just waiting for something inevitable to happen but not going to worry until it's here... Enjoy the now, tomorrow isn't promised

I’ll be honest. I thrive in uncomfortable situations. My fight and flight response takes over and I get hyper focused. You could say that I’m eternally chasing happiness.

I’m pretty happy already. I do crave the happiness that sharing my life with a partner would bring though.

Parts of my life I'm happy with already.

The one thing I want I doubt I'll ever get now so just make do to be honest.

Crucially, I do not crave happiness because I am perfectly contented with what I am doing: I have just formally retired; I am financially secure and can live contentedly within my means.

In life, there are always people who may be better off or worse off, but the key is to be reasonably satisfied with one's lot in life, and cherish each day.

Option 1 please. I much prefer a consistent sense of peace and contentment, rather than highs and lows.

I find happiness in simple every day things, birds tweeting in the morning, coffee, laughter oh and a foot rub now and then

I love listening to birds sing in the day and watching the bats flying past my window at dusk

I've all but abandoned the idea of happiness in favour of contentment. Like others have said, I seek to find joy in the day to day stuff.

Failing that, I eat my feelings. I eat when I'm happy, eat when I'm sad, eat when I'm bored, eat when I'm lonely, eat alone, eat with others. You get the picture...

No. Happiness is fleeting and it's the contrast in emotions that makes things sweeter. I crave connection, purpose and inner security.

I kind of felt you...a lot of what you said applies to me and saved me having to write it

I don't wait for the inevitable though...I kinda live in the moment and don't worry about stuff till it happens, where possible.

I'm always an optimist and have enjoy happiness. Hubby is the eternal pessimist, and enjoys life to be more downbeat. We even each other out, with his realist outlook keeping my optimism from being obnoxiously over-bearing.

I wouldn't have things any other way.

I’m living for the moment right now. And I’m certainly happier for it.

A while back all I wanted was to be was happier, and by living that way I find I avoided trying to live a life because of the risk of things not working out.

People forget to appreciate what they have always wishing for more.

Simple things

Yesterday had freshly squeezed orange juice for the first time here in Spain. Was amazing took few minutes to enjoy and realise how lucky I am

I listened to a really interesting podcast by 'Huberman Lab' last week called 'Controlling your dopamine for motivation, focus and satisfaction'

It explains a lot about what drives us and the pitfalls of constantly chasing highs, how addiction begins and how to find balance and avoid the constant up and downs.

Anyone who is asking themselves why they feel unfulfilled soon after an amazing experience, achieving a goal or just don't get the same buzz as they used to from and experience and who are constantly looking for something better should give it a listen.

I find happiness from new experiences, travel, connecting with people, excercise, getting out into nature and of course sex

Newry Down

Happiness, contentment, peace of mind, etc., are all synonymous terms, but if you go looking directly for any one of them, you will be disappointed.

Contentment comes from assisting others who are deserving of assistance, who are less fortunate.
