"Sameplace is fab, great for a first visit of you're a bit nervous. My advice; Check on their website for the themed nights and make sure you go along to the right nights, they are quite strict on letting the right people in for the right nights. Upstairs is just like a normal bar, there are some beds, cages and a dancefloor, so fine for a drink and to relax a bit. The door to the right of the bar is the smoking area if you need it. Downstairs is where a lot of fun takes place, there's a bit of a dark room, sling, etc, so once youve had a drink or two pop down and see what's going on. Careful of the stairs, they can be a bit steep after a glass of wine! Everyone is really friendly there and you can do as much or as little as you want, it's very much a bar with a fun side if you're looking for that too. The bar staff are always really friendly, and if you just grab a seat the bar you'll find you're chatting to people in no time. The place isn't huge, but great for meeting new people and dipping your toes for the first time. You can park your bikes just over the road on the bridge if you need to, and there's plenty of trams going that way too. I'm sure you'll have fun and enjoy the experience! I lived over there for about 3 years or so, and know the place pretty well....enjoy! X" Thanks so much! Really appreciated. X

"In our humble opinion, Sameplace is great as a bar and to get a feel for the scene. Though we felt downstairs (a cellar) comes pretty much with what you would expect from a cellar so did have that foisty smell. From a swinging first time sexy kind of feel, you may not find this attractive and off putting, so do take this into account. I think Sunday is couples only night, so can make for a more relaxing ambience. Otherwise, you might want to consider a club, which will definitely have a more sexier vibe, but will also have more life. Paradise in Amsterdam is definitely worth looking at should you want to take this into account. Remember, no does mean no. They are further out & more expensive to enter (though all inclusive) but Fata Morgana and Fun4two (Rotterdam) would give a nice experience as well. Feel free to drop us a line and happy to deep dive into this discussion. Otherwise I hope the above helps." Thanks so much for this info. Just a quick question: what is the dress code for sameplace? We expect a certain dress code on themed nights but can you just pop in for a drink at the bar in smart/casual clothes? Thanks again. H

Friday / Saturday appears to be requirement for something smarter but other days are a bit more casual.

"Other advice, just enjoy Amsterdam. We love walking around the streets walking around the RLD, Rembrandt square, and down Damrak to Dam Square. Plenty of Wok2Walks, which are great for munching on protein and noodles enjoying the scene. Away from the swinging, the Leidseplein is where a lot of locals go. Some good restaurants and a cool club called Paradiso (not to be confused with Paradise, the swingers club). Also in Rembrandtsquare is the Ice Bar, if you fancy doing something a bit different and quirky." Thanks for this info. Have booked in to the Ice Bar already. Think we’re going to have an amazing time but the todo list is getting ambitious. Checking out that club too x
