How dangerous is Salmon

Jump to newest

Chelmsford

Reports that people over 69 with some underlying health conditions should not eat smoked salmon or it may poison them. Smoking salmon is a way of preserving the fish to make it last longer. Dangerous bacteria may be lurking in the flesh which is called listeria bacteria. And it's all over the news..

I'm OK.

I'm not over 69 of course but I gave up smoking years ago. Cigarettes and fish.

Do you have a link to this information as the only information I could find is people with certain cardiovascular conditions regardless of age should avoid eating salmon.

My mum had tablets where on the packaging it said she should avoid eating grapefruit.

Tom typo. It's aged 60 and not 69.

That pulls more into the at risk group. Is it best to just avoid smoked salmon. Is it being messed with by greedy sellers cutting corners. Frankenstein food.

Not all that North of North London

The worst food poisoning I've ever had was from salmon, actually thought I might be dying, at one point was close to calling 999!

Bit I'm not 60 or 69 so not sure of this proves Tom's claim or not?

These are not Toms claims .

They are claims of these science types. Mind you, Tom would not trust these science types as far as he could throw them ...

I can't see the claims at all that people over 60 should avoid eating smoked salmon only those with certain conditions regardless of age. What are the reasons people over 60 shouldn't eat it?
