Nah I don’t subscribe to this. Some people don’t deserve my respect and kindness. However I endeavour to be polite regardless

You'll find op that many people speak from experience on this and the "Be kind" movement is often seen as a diversion tactic by those who are anything but.

Those who are already kind and considerate find this advice insulting and those who aren't can only maintain the facade for so long.

Does that include a little ‘tough love’ sometimes? letting people know something that could help them but that that might not want to hear?

I will always be kind and respectful to those that deserve it.

I'm guessing most people don't need to be told how to behave from a complete stranger.

Kind to who, and at the expense of whom?

Respect as in basic human dignity, or respect in terms of deference?

"I genuinely don't know what people mean when they tell me to be kind.

To me it means dint be unnecessary cruel or nasty about people.

The obvious ecample is the new health secretary, calling her out on her voting record is fine. The comments about her looks abd weight aren't

You know when you tell kids... Dont be unkind...When they've said or done something unkind? ... Well.. The opposite of that.

Is there a universal definition of " being kind "? Since we can no longer rely on the EU guiding our lives... No... Not for us

Ok. That I understand but why are people telling me to be kind a propos of nothing? I'm getting on with my day, suddenly I'm exhorted to be kind I haven't told anyone they shouldn't be health secretary, I've kicked no kittens. Have I to find someone to be kind to?

I find sometimes be kind is used as a way of shutting people up if they disagree.

I think the problem is often people don't need to be told to be kind. Some people feel if someone says something they don't like even if it isn't personal they will use #be kind.
