By either laying flowers at one of the palaces or Will you go and see the Queen lying in state or possibly attend the funeral?

For us personally we will be going to lay flowers Buckingham palace as we feel that something we would like to do and be part of.

I don't know to be honest. I know she will lay in state for 3 days and as the public will be able to visit 23 hours a day.

No, but i might visit friends nearby who work at the palace.

I think the open coffin thing should be for family, but I know a lot of people will want to say goodbye in person.

The Queen Mother's coffin was a closed one, when I visited her lying in state. And I think it was for longer than 3 days.

I'll wait to hear news of what arrangements have been made for the Queen, but I'm planning on visiting.

The arrangements have already been announced and the Queen will lie in state for 3 days.

All plans are already in place and have been for some time.

Nope I would feel disrespectful putting myself in that category. The only people actually grieving right now are the ones who knew her closely, her family. Everyone else is most likely rushing down there to be on the tv or for a social media post. Let the family grieve in peace, just because she was the queen doesn't mean we own her body in death.

I think you have completely misjudged the emotion surrounding the Queen. You may not want to pay your respects that many do. Please do not assume people are not genuinely grieving and also that they are somehow doing it to be on the TV.

I'd love to go to London and lay flowers outside the Palace but my health makes that difficult so i will see if there's somewhere local i can do that and i think there's an online book i can sign. I will probably watch the news or look online to catch up on anything being anounced today.

I used to be anti royal but i've mellowed in the last 10 years and i especially admired the Queen for how she lived her life in service to her country and was still working aged 96, there's not many other people that would do that !

Probably not. The only time I did any kind of public display like this was when Princess Diana died and my friends and I went to Campbell park in Milton Keynes to leave flowers at the beacon and take part in a candle light vigil. I got caught up in it being the first major death in the media that I could remember.

For someone who's emotions run very close to the surface all the time I find it surprising that I am not more emotional at this news. To read and see people openly sobbing just seems bizarre to me. I'm not saying they aren't really feeling what they are feeling or mocking them before any of the people who like to polarizes arguments jump in. It's more a weird observation about myself. I cried when dirty den got shot in EastEnders or when little foots mum dies in land before time but never when I hear of real life people dying. I don't even remember crying that much when my nans passed away.

It is bizarre. It was the same when Diana died and the Queen mother and Prince Philip. They have nothing to add to the story and repeat the same 4 bits of information over and over again. Perhaps today it's understandable but really all that's needed is the announcement and any updates in the funeral arrangements etc. Maybe a special programme to celebrate her life etc. But endless hours of Huw whatshisface repeating him self is bizarre.

People should go with their feelings. Many who never met her in person still feel a sense of loss. Those who served in the Army, RAF, Police, and probably other public sector bodies, swore an oath to her. To some, those words meant something.

I am in London Midweek anyway, so will play it by ear.

I won't be laying any flowers. I'm quite analytical about these things. It's sad when anybody dies, but I don't know her and she led a long and very privileged life. I don't feel attached to the queen and I find royalty a very peculiar concept. None of this is something I get emotional about.

However, I do recognise that this is a historic event and I can see myself taking the opportunity to experience it in some way, possibly by seeing the coffin lying in state or watching the funeral or next coronation on telly. Luke

I will be. I have a promise made to my late father. He served in the Navy, my grandad the RAF, and he had a flower that he had dried and pressed taken from a display at Her Majestys Coronation... before he passed he made me promise that when her Majesty passed away. I would take the flower with one I would later take from his funeral flowers, and go and show my respects.

This I will be doing along with taking thr last of the roses from my garden. X

Well said! I will take what opportunities I can to pay my respects to the lady without whom our nation would have been so much poorer in every way! She was the mother of modern Britain and has helped to safeguard our nation from service against Hitler right through to earlier this week. She was a private confidante and adviser to 15 Prime Ministers who clearly appreciated her wisdom, wit, warmth and counsel. She has done our nation proud and has probably been the finest and most diligent monarch we’ve ever had. That she’s gone will affect all our lives, probably for the worse! We’ve lost a lady who was a living legend and an inspiration and incredible role-model to hard-working women around the world. In an age of male domination, she proved women could excel at the very highest level of office and justly earn respect and trust. No-one did more for women’s rights than her. She didn’t need to burn a bra, she just needed to prove she could work hard and do her job brilliantly, with intelligence, dedication and humanity. She proved women were more than a match for men when many men still thought politics something women shouldn’t worry their pretty little heads over!

I, for one, appreciate what she did throughout this land to raise morale, raise Britain’s profile oversees with diplomacy at the highest levels, and check the power of the powerful!

May she rest in peace and rise in glory!

I think the fab forum has been very respectfully and representative of the feelings of the nation. A lot of very vocal non-Royalists have been able to set their personal issues with the monarchy aside and recognise the national and international loss we are all feeling. Many have made comment on how respect shod be given to those who succeed her as try have lost a loved one and have respected her unwavering service.

Not all that North of North London

No, I will respect her death and bits made me sad but I'm not going to do anything more than that.

We go away on Wednesday but if I'd been home I'd have watched the funeral (I'll be up a mountain in Morrocco so can't watch it while I'm away).

If i had chance to get in to London I'd undoubtedly go to Buckingham Palace and anywhere flowers were being laid to acknowledge whst is happening which is a once in a lifetime event

Hello Lorna. My lovely Dad died a couple of weeks ago and I have flowers in my house, next to his photo. I will go and get some flowers for the Queen today and put them in a vase, next to my Dads. He was a royalist, as am I..xx

"No. Shame she has gone just like anyones mother granny etc but she or any of the ‘royals’ are nothing to me and I think the 350 million annual cost could be better spent. "

I think you are forgetting just how much money they make for the country! How many tourists come to London each year? All buying flights, staying in hotels, buying meals, souvenirs etc etc? Would they be so keen to come here if there was no royal family? It is worth millions to the british economy and far outpays the costs.

In my own way. At home. I can’t emotionally cope with seeing all the flowers laid outside, it’s too overwhelmingly sad. I went through it with Princess Di at Cardiff Castle and I couldn’t do it again.

I’m going to be staying off Fab and Twitter for a few days. The vitriol some people are spouting has taken me aback slightly and I find it deeply unpleasant.

This lady dedicated her life to her Country. Her son, our King, has no time to himself to mourn the loss of his Mum, because duty comes first. How sad is that? How many of us would put up with that? And yet people are now taking this opportunity to badmouth the Monarchy and bring up things from 100’s of years ago, for things that none of the current lot had anything to do with.

We live under a Monarchy. This is how it is. I think people should just keep their unpleasant thoughts to themselves. If you can’t say anything nice, say nothing.

She was the head of our Armed forces, she did shitloads for Charities and yes, she lived a pampered lifestyle, she was a QUEEN, but my goodness she paid it back in dedication and hard work, right up until the very end, because she carried out her duty even though she was clearly ill (if the recent pics are anything to go by).

She has always been there. And I’m sad that she’s gone. But most of all I’m sad for her family, who won’t be allowed their privacy to mourn her, they are expected to go on with the show, and the media will be dissecting every action with glee.

It's bigger and has the Alps, south coast, huge vineyard's and overlap tourism from neighbouring countries.

Also they have no monarchy coz they chopped off all their head's in the revolution.

We are far more civilized.

I for one will be paying tribute,I live in a navy town so it's hard not to be involved.

"By either laying flowers at one of the palaces or Will you go and see the Queen lying in state or possibly attend the funeral?

For us personally we will be going to lay flowers Buckingham palace as we feel that something we would like to do and be part of.

Do you think it's possible that it just hasn't sunk in for you yet?

No, I understand that the public are saddened by the news. But after seeing what William and Harry went through following their mothers passing, and the queen face at her husband's funeral. I now believe the family should be able to mourn in peace. And that maybe like the Duke of Edinburgh a memorial service for the country to show it's respects.

Having read through most of the posts on this thread. There seems to be a lot of republican views. Me I wish I could get to see the Queen laying in state. That lady single handedly aided by Philip kept this country being great. The royal family may cost us money but they generate as much. I will miss her. God save the King

I think it's a good age for King Charles to take over,he is of an age where the example shown by his mother will be carried on the traditions and pride will be something King Charles has had many years to practice for.

He may not always be right about his views but he's passionate about the stuff he's interested in so if he carries the passion for being King he'll be great.

As far as I am aware the only official 2 minute silence will be on the day of the Queen's funeral.

By that logic we would never have funerals.

It is something the family are discussing… as I know that it’s something that mum would definitely have wanted….so deciding who is going to do the lying in state queue…

Also I know the royal train is taking the body down from Edinburgh to London, so I am tempted to pay my respects as it goes through Newcastle central station or I can see it as it goes by the angel of the north…
