Maybe read the room. You don't have to be a fan of the Royal family but this woman is 96 years old and has dedicated her life to service. Even if you detest what she and the Royal family stand for a little bit of decorum and respect goes a long way.

My friends and I were just saying on a chat group that it’s quite strange in many ways how the death (whenever it happens) of an old lady we’ve never met will a) be a shock and b) impact people.

For so many people she’s been one of life’s constant things.

Over the years I've had mixed views on the Royal Family. But I think the Queen has done us proud on ballance. It's also true that they do boost the UK economy and we need that now.

I wish her well but if she does go downhill I think we all agree she's had, as they say, "a good innings".

Charles has a huge act to follow and I often think, perhaps William might do a better job.

I would normally agree with you but the wording of this is very different. The BBC currently have live updates on the app. Words like the Queen is currently being kept comfortable, The family have been informed, Her children and grandchildren are either making their way to Balmoral or preparing to do so. I think this has been prepared for announcement very soon.

I think it's OK to bring feelings about the Royal family into this as it's an emotional subject particularly if we lose the Queen which we are going to. I do think however it should be done as respectfully as possible.

Time for a change, seems anachronistic in the modern age to have a person of such importance there only because of birth. Added to which having a UK monarch as head of state for the likes of Australia and Jamaica just seems wrong. Queen has bee amazing but time for a discussion.

Employers will not be obligated to give staff a day off, though it will be a Day of National Mourning and a two minute silence held across Britain.

I have just found this on the Internet about what would happen on the day of the Queen's funeral.

Coverage would suggest she has gone and they are waiting for the family to congregate at Balmoral before making an announcement. A fine woman who will be missed "

Yes almost all the family are either there or on their way ..

"I hope she’s ok

And I hope if she’s not we don’t close the country down to mourn

There will be a period of national mourning which has been the case every single time a monarch has died.

I don't think it's mandated but I think a lot will. Quite a few did the same on the day of princess Diana's funeral.

Does that mean businesses closing for the day kinda stuff?

Shit. I really hope not. But “optional” normally happens if it means people get time off paid. Let’s hope

Employers will not be obligated to give staff a day off, though it will be a Day of National Mourning and a two minute silence held across Britain.

I have just found this on the Internet about what would happen on the day of the Queen's funeral.

Don't forget this is well planned for and the code name is London bridge. "

Apparently they have one for Charles called Menai bridge

Not nice.... she didn't choose to be born a royal, she didn't choose to be the queen.

She did what was expected of her and although I'm not a royal supporter, she done a bloody good job.

Have a heart. Take away the fact that they're the Royal Family and look at it from their view. There is a Mother, Grandmother, Auntie, Great Auntie, friend to many including current and past staff, who is not good at all. They must be so concerned and full of emotion. As for our Queen, nobody can imagine how she's feeling right now.

I've been there with loved ones at and near the end of their lives. It's heartbreaking.

You don't put all the Royals in 1 place due to a massive security risk and target unless its serious.

I have a very bad feeling we will have an announcement very soon and hubby will be recalled from leave.

Also, notice they have not mentioned any children attending. You take a child to an unwell person, but not a dying person.

I think it’s really sad seeing all the news readers in black, prepared for the news. Her Majesty the Queen served her country without complaining, as an example of duty and discipline.

Possibly the last national institution that hasn't fallen into disrepair, disregard or distrust.

I don't think we're remotely ready for her loss.

I've just Google there and it doesn't actually happen every day.

The current schedules are:

August - May: The Queen's Guard change on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays

June - July: The Queen's Guard change daily

It wouldn't have happened today anyway as it's a Thursday.
