Pandora's box...

By (user no longer on site) OP

Would you open it? Remember, once you know /see something you cannot unsee /unknown it

It could be any aspect of life / home /work

.. Would you rather live blissfully unaware forever (maybe with a needling sensation at the edges) .... or know the truth which leads to blowing up everything you thought was real

Have you done it?

After my husband died I chose not to open his laptop or phone in case there was anything which would upset me. I don't regret my decision.

A message of inspiration from your friends at Yoplait. Fruit on the bottom, hope on top!

Any excuse to slip a bit of Mitch in.

Ignorance is bliss sometimes, and our impressions of people can be based on the filtered best parts of them, avoiding all the unpleasantness.

When faced with the cold hard reality, that can be trickier, requiring that deeper connection to bridge the inevitable frailties of character.

Yes very much this Falafel.

Hope is an essential part of Pandora's box anyway. I'd like to think I wouldn't open it but I have such curiosity about the world I'd probably give in. Maybe not actually. I respect people a lot and if they want to tell me something, I want that to be their choice. Freewill. Not take the decision to know from them.

"As long as there's still hope at the bottom.

I don't think hope is included in the package

I agree. Well on the assumption that what you at provided with is truthful and trustworthy to begin with.. Trust.. The foundation key stone

Trust is. I trust people. Like to have faith and hope. It's a nice assumption to make isn't it? Have optimism for people."

I always have optimistim, even when let down x

"Would you open it? Remember, once you know /see something you cannot unsee /unknown it

It could be any aspect of life / home /work

.. Would you rather live blissfully unaware forever (maybe with a needling sensation at the edges) .... or know the truth which leads to blowing up everything you thought was real

Have you done it?

Always open and yes I have done it.

I hate the idea of living in a comfortable lie"

That is a great phrase.. A comfortable lie. I wonder how many of us are currently doing just that!

Hope, in the myth, is both a blessing and a curse. Think not just optimism, but also clinging on in vain.

Open as I'd rather know the whole truth. How can you navigate life if you don't know where you are truly starting from?

Yes I've been there, I've seen what I believe is my truth and it hurt in the past but I don't regret any of my life experiences because they have made me who I am and I quite like me.

"Open.

I am too much of a control freak to not know.

Me too!

What if you thought it was open, but it had a false bottom?

Wouldn’t happen.

I’s have inspected the box prior to opening, and once opened would then be rooting around in it to try and “understand” it and make sure I hadn’t missed anything.

I think that is maybe what i am doing.. Shaking it empty "

At least you then “know” where you are.

Some times the only way we progress is to tear everything down and start again.

I don’t want any surprises from my “empty” box.
