What a beautiful answer!

Comparison between two "Generations" ....... Everyone must read ????

A youngster asked his father: "How did you people live before with-

No access to technology

No internet

No computers

No dramas

No TVs

No air con

No mobile phones?"

His Dad replied:

"Just like how your generation lives today with -

No compassion

No honor

No respect

No character

No shame

No modesty

No time planning

No sports

No reading"

"We, the people that were born between 1940-1980 are the blessed ones. Our life is a living proof:

?? While playing and riding bicycles, we never wore helmets.

?? After school, we played until dusk. We rarely watched TV.

?? We played with real friends, not internet friends.

?? If we ever felt thirsty, we drank tap water not bottled water.

?? We never got ill although we used to share the same glass of juice with four friends.

?? We never gained weight although we used to eat a lot of crap everyday.

?? Nothing happened to our feet despite roaming bare-feet.

?? our mother and father never used any supplements to keep us healthy.

?? We used to create our own toys and play with them.

?? Our parents were not rich. They gave us love, not worldly materials.

?? We never had cellphones, DVDs, play station, XBox, personal computers, internet chat - but we had real friends.

?? We visited our friends' homes uninvited and enjoyed food with them.

?? unlike your world, we had relatives who lived close by so family time and ties were enjoyed together.

?? We may have been in black and white photos but you will find colourful memories in those photos.

?? We are a unique and, the most understanding generation, because *we are the last generation who listened to their parents*.

*Also , the first who have had to listen to their children.*

and we are the ones who are still smarter and helping you now to use the technology that never existed while we were your age!!!

We are a *LIMITED* edition!

So you better -

Enjoy us.

Learn from us.

Treasure us.

Before we disappear from Earth and your lives."

So many questions, not enough time.

1) Aren't we all limited, one-time-only editions? If not, I want my identical other stripped for spares, please.

2) What about people born before 1940, like my Dad? Were they just little shits?

3) Wasn't it a bit shit being born between 1940-1945, cos of the War n stuff?

4) Wasn't it a bit shit being born from 1945-1954 cos of ongoing rationing?

5) What was the cut off for the post 1980 people becoming little shits? Was it a kinda instant thing at 00:00 on 01/01/1981? Or more gradual?

6) Who gave birth to and brought up the post-1980 generation? Do they not have some responsibility for spawning little shits like me?

7) Wasn't it Socrates who wrote something (probably on a wax tablet) about youths being tyrants and stuff? Maybe he doesn't count because it was pre-1940 (of the AD variety)?

8) I have more questions but my youthful brain is too distracted so I'll come back later. Probably

That's just complete bollocks.

Firstly, more than a little one-sided. I mean, I can think of a few things that my generation may have done badly.

Secondly, I pity whoever wrote this shite that they habe clearly never met a decent child (in theor eyes, at least). No honour? Respect? Character? Clearly never met my kids.

Incidentally, all these dreadful kids were raised by my generation. So, if the two lists are correct, perhaps we need to discuss why we're such shit parents!

No shame? Good!

No modesty. This is a swinger's site, right?

Lists like this have been shared since the days of Plato. Maybe it just shows that the older generation of historically good nostalgic whingers?

From Socrates (c.470–399 BC)

"Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers."

We rest our case

I think a few people in this country might write similar. I see it creeping in on the discussions about energy prices. Replies starting with 'I don't know how you'd manage' and go on to list the arctic conditions they grew up in while claiming that anyone under 40

heats their home to 25°, has all the windows open and only wears shorts and tee shirts all winter.

Mind you a lot of younger people are equally dismissive of the older generation so it balances out in the end.

Help younger people with technology?!

Ok OP. Can you do me a favour and spend 3 hours on the phone to my Nan trying to explain to her how to retune a TV? She’ll keep hanging up on you after an hour despite you telling her that you’re calling from your mobile and it doesn’t matter if you go over an hour?

Then can you come back and tell us we have no compassion and kindness.

Im never getting that time back

For reference she was born in 1942 so really she should be helping me if you could please let her know.

I've always been happy to be on "help mum out with tech" duty, but the past few years I've realised that she's started relying on me to fix everything too much and doesn't even try to learn how to do it herself. These are problems that could be solved by just a few minutes of critical thinking and reading what it says on the screen, which is what I try to explain, and then it turns into a huge row.

I don't mind helping, I just would rather she try herself before asking me. Her reply is usually "I didn't grow up with this stuff" but she was using computers for her job well before I was born! Younger people didn't grow up learning how to do this stuff either; we use things called Google and our eyes.

Nobody has the time or interest to read about the issues I've had with first my mum then my dad with their tech. Suffice it to say my mum used ring and tell me

" something came up on my television (computer screen) and it won't work"

"Ok what did it say?"

"I don't know woo woo woo something"

"Right, is it still there?"

"No"

Then my dad is convinced he has an 'aura' that prevents his computer from working properly.

"Lol I didn't read it"

That's literally the most bizarre forum post I've ever seen.

Are you going to post that on numerous threads today?

"What a beautiful answer!

Before we disappear from Earth and your lives.""

Cringed so hard I hurt myself.
