The process we went through was learning on the job so to speak. We made a lot of mistakes initially. I know now never to ignore the tiny tells that people give, the old saying 'when people show you who they are, believe them' is very true.

Verified is a good start…. But then message interaction helps build up the ‘carry on or fold’ … then you can go from there….

Age range … distance …. These are the types of things that can change so often depending on mood … but also if you ‘click’ you may be willing to travel further for someone older than expected ….

Location. I don't have the time or inclination to travel long distances in the hope of getting my leg over.

Nice person filter. Not the shallow "I've got an amazing profile with stunning pics so I must be worth shagging" type of person but those who can genuinely hold a conversation that isn't all about themselves.

Forum filter. One of the best ways of seeing true personalities.

Not specifically I guess, as there was nothing I could have done differently (other than to not meet them) as they presented themselves differently to me, despite chatting for ages, beforehand.

We are still quite new to all this, so it’s a learning curve…our profile is set so that people can only message or wink if they are verified, photo verified and a site supporter. Purely to help ensure only genuine people can connect with us - it’s not fool proof, obviously. Our age range isn’t too strict, and we’ve filtered out single guys - which is a bit of a pity but it’s more to do with the fact that too many people can’t read our bio….

There are things that turn us right off a couple - being pushy the number one thing. Generally we are really open minded and laid back, and will chat to anyone, but if we don’t get a good vibe, it’s a polite no thank you.

Age range has been altered over time based on experience and my own age. Newbies are blocked but actually I’d prefer if this was possible to include everyone who’s joined in last 3 - 6 months.

I’m debating blocking unverified.

Personally as I look at profiles and messages I’m not interested in “meet now” types, and there’s a long list by now (I’ve been on anc off fab a long time by now) of the things that put me off based on profile and 1st message.

I’ve only had a few let downs and most of them have been in very early days when I didn’t know how to make fab work for me, I sometimes get caught out when I come back after some time away when I’ve forgotten the signals that someone isn’t for me. I quickly relearn.

In terms of nasty messages I’ve no hesitation in reporting.

Yep I have them for age ,newbies and no public pics

Age is because I don't want people too much older or younger .Newbies is due to a pest I had who I blocked ,but he kept rejoining and messaging.Also because I don't want to invest in chat with someone who then just ups and leaves ,so making people wait and be on a for a few days before they can message helps.

The no pics is pretty self explanatory although people do cheat this one and the age one .

The filters help keep my mail at the level I like and give me more chance of striking up a chat with someone I'd want to .

Need to be able to have a fun chat with them about other topics and also not take themselves too seriously. We’re all a bit ridiculous and sex is often ridiculous too. Need to be able to have a laugh.
