I love live music, I'm out gigging most weekends with my own band

I used to gig 2/3 times a week across Scotland but just couldn’t be bothered eventually, it’s something I’m tempted to start again and friends say I should but motivation is at a low

not heard of them, i'll have to check them out!

I was gonna be gigging at the Groove Pad, but they are taking the piss with payments at the moment wanting bands to reduce their fee as its not not busy so we told them to do one

Not all that North of North London

We don't really have a local music scene on my corner of Hertfordshire, we're surrounded by decent scenes in London, Cambridge and Bedfordshire but the only venues round here are more often looking for tribute acts or smaller national acts on a tour. A new venue has opened in Hertford though which does at least seem interested in booking local bands in early week slots or as supports so hopefully that may kick-start things.

This is why I own my own full band set up from drum kits to PA and amps. If I was dragging that to a gig there was no negotiating of prices

Haha

We have our own decent PA anyway, we have no shortage of gigs, have to turn them away as fully booked this year, makes my piss boil though when they think paying you £30 each for effectively 5 hours of work not taking into account travel time and all the equipment you take....I play for the love, not the money, but we would have spent more than that on the bar!

Cracking wee local punk band new to scene here called San Jose they are on a well known music streaming site now. 1st single is called Binoculars. Definitely worth a wee look. Very refreshing to see a group of young guys keeping the punk scene alive here in Ayrshire

We used to have a cracking music scene round here but it's pretty dead now. I used to love my local open mic nights.

Huddersfield seems to have a very active live music scene, we do a lot round there and the pubs are always busy with people gone out to watch bands

Local scene not as good as it was in the 90's 00's lot of venues closed. Also I prefer a cosy night in! Royal Blood used to play a venue just a short walk from me. Never got to see them though.

A lot of bands called it a day after lockdown very sad. Round here isn't to bad I just wished there was more people doing their own thing rather than covers of the usual stuff.

My preference is to be playing in the band rather than watching one...
