I was sad to see the news that Bernard Cribbins passed away. I seem to have reached the age now where the actors/singers/comedians etc of my childhood are gradually leaving us.

Wherever you are Bernard, Thanks for the memories and keep Wombling on!

Given his wide range of performances over the years what will you remember Bernard for ?

I was, and still am a big fan of Bernard Cribbins. I met him in the late 1970's when I was a kid playing in a 5-a-side football tournament. He was there with his wife presenting the medals. We won the tournament and queued up to receive our medals. He shook me by the hand and said the immortal words "well done goalie" (they were immortal to me!). I was only very young, but I still remember the impression I had of him - he was a warm, friendly and trustworthy man with a twinkle in his eye. His wife was also lovely - she gave me a tissue to staunch my bloody knee. Nice people. I still have the medal, the autograph and the photo my dad took when I met him.

The Railway children Oakwoth Station: we went there last year, still have a piece of coal from that station

Shillingsbury Tales/Blowers/Cuffy (Aldbury, Hertfordhsire), been there plenty of times, with my partner, in the last 12 months or so.

The Wombles: goes without saying.

I had a watch of the Fawlty Towers episode he was in last night... so funny... good in the carry on films he was in too..

Will be much missed.. old actors are the best ones

I'll remember his as Wilf Mott, Russell T Davies' tribute to him is beautiful. I think the 60th anniversary episode of Dr Who which he's recently filmed will be emotional

I met Bernard Cribbins about 4 years ago during a visit to the Royal Surrey County Hospital. My daughter was a fan of Doctor Who & recognised him. He was very approachable & kind when we said hello and that we were fans and shook hands.

Kind man, proper old school gentleman.

In the Doctor Who film, great.

Songs The Hole in the ground and Right said Fred always make me laugh.

He was very funny.

Check out Crooks in Cloisters, cheered me up during the lockdown.

RIP Bernard, thanks for the good times.
