"Surley this would be a good idea for this site, as so many people are now struggling in both areas ? " first I 100% agree mental health needs to be treated more seriously and everyone could use more help in this regard. Saying that the problem with a forum is your not always going to get good advice and some of it could actually be harmful instead of helpful. I don't think anyone wants that. I would love it if professional help was more accessible though

"By creating a forum for mental health and well being, it could be viewed that the site is accountable for the advice offered." we all know the site doesn't type for the individual, this about helping people not scaremongering

"By creating a forum for mental health and well being, it could be viewed that the site is accountable for the advice offered. we all know the site doesn't type for the individual, this about helping people not scaremongering " I am all for supporting mental health, and the threads I have seen in the past are usually for supportive to the posters. I am saying, in this day and age of risk assessments, red tape and accountability etc. The site risks being made accountable for the advice offered I am guessing.

"People talk and support on here, I'm not sure there's enough thread to warrant an entire forum though" where on here is dedicated to mental health and well-being?

"People talk and support on here, I'm not sure there's enough thread to warrant an entire forum though where on here is dedicated to mental health and well-being?" There isn't a dedicated mental health forum, but there are posters who open a thread from time to time saying they are struggling. The threads usually get good responses and lots of supportive advice.

"People talk and support on here, I'm not sure there's enough thread to warrant an entire forum though where on here is dedicated to mental health and well-being?" There's a weekly mental health check in thread, loads of other threads started intermittently that often get a good response

"I agree mental health is a grave concern but I also believe sites like this are no good for people dealing with mental health issues..something that serious should be dealt with in a professional setting and not on a site primarily based on how you look..." My mental health has been life threateningly bad this year, I wasn't posting on the forums then but friends in here knew and I didn't get any negativity, and I've been fairly frank on threads since i posted without negativity I think anything we post on the forums is a filter, if people are out off by talk of mental health would you want to meet them anyway? Xx

Fair point. Also some types will use the information to try and get sex. Sad but true.

"People talk and support on here, I'm not sure there's enough thread to warrant an entire forum though" There are forums for Australia and New Zealand with bugger all in them. A health and wellbeing section would be more useful than those two at least

A thread in the main forum is much more likely to be seen

"Again I agree with the above. I have noticed a shift towards men being supported though. However often posts that seem antagonistic in tone or where the op hasn't expressed themselves well but are covering real pain, confusion and hurt elicit aggressive responses. On a more appropriate platform this would possibly be spotted and dealt with quite differently. Mental health problems aren't always obviously presented." I agree, since I've been back on, mental health definitely seems one of the topics that responses don't seem overly gender influenced. But I'd also agree, in other threads, kindness is often lacking, kicking single men is definitely a preferred past time to some on here, it seems unnecessary.

" It is unnecessary a lot of the time and often done by people who would be shocked if you told them they were bullies. Young fairly naive (and let's face it most young people are naive it goes with the territory) men are treated very poorly and yet they are the ones we're told are most likely to suffer mental ill health.

You only have to look at the "be nice" threads and comments from people who are very vocal and supportive in public but are renowned for all sorts of nefarious games elsewhere often using info gleaned from vulnerable people.

" Yes the old 'I tell it like it is' bullshit. No you are being cruel, vindictive and trying to look superior. What's worse is that a couple of comments will inevitably lead to an influx of similar comments. And those who remember me from old, I know I could be all of those things, but I've reflected a lot on that behavoir of late, it's not something im proud of but I dint think I wa ever as nasty as some of what I see targeted at some men on here

"Fab is not the best place to seek support for your mental health in my opinion. I’m not saying you can’t find help on here, but this is a swingers site and not a mental health support forum. There will be many other online support forums which will be regulated appropriately for those with MH difficulties. " I agree to a certain extent, I think Sometimes if someone is just having a rubbish day or a bit of a rubbish time then chatting to people on here about it can be really helpful. It's when people have complex, long term or ongoing issues that I think people should seek support somewhere better equipped at helping them.
